The best games not on PC?

Tons of great stuff on on the PS2 like Haunting Ground and Rule of Rose.

In the case of Haunting Ground if only Capcom had more of a PC division back then it could be more readily available than emulation or spending hundreds of dollars, I see people talk about this game a fair amount on Twitter, it'd probably be a steady seller if it was on Steam.

This is like asking "what's the best fluid to imbibe other than water". You could probably spend 100 consecutive years debating it.

Just look up the best selling list of every 8 and 16 bit console and you're pretty much guaranteed to get several hundred solid answers. Do not under any circumstances look up lists like "top ten nostalgic SNES games from my I mean your childhood that you have to play right now because I grew up with them". They're always either just a list of best sellers or they're some weeb flexing his weebness by recommending Seiken Densetsu 3 and Live a Live.

Which are both good games but you know what I mean

Yeah, pretty much. SD3 and Live a Live are both good, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone new to RPGs.

@McAfee'sCorpse Just name your favorite genre and you'll get me and a few other spergs telling you exactly what to play. Just about everything pre-2010 emulates perfectly nowadays if your computer is good, and everything but 360 & PS3 (and maybe original Xbox) if your computer is shit. Even cellphones can play PS2 games now, for fuck's sake.

But if you just want a "fuck you I don't care just recommend me one thing" suggestion:
  • download Mesen-S
  • look for Super Mario All-Stars (U) [!].smc
  • play Super Mario Bros. 3

Xenoblade Chronicles X is a favourite of mine, it doesn't play like a typical JRPG and is a bit like an MMO in terms of style, but it's very unique in a lot of ways like it's battle (art) system, the flying mech (skell) combat and the story progression dealing with all these different non-human characters was very interesting and I think it's one of the best games I've ever played, and I've played my fair share of RPGs.

If they made a sequel to X and decided not to continue with the current Xenoblade story line, that would be the only reason I'd by a switch (and maybe for Breath of the Wild 2).

Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn). Since Team Andromeda supposedly lost the source code, that’s one title that won’t ever appear.

Glad I got my original copy. Might supplement my pension.

I think everyone can name a dozen or so “obvious” choices - one of the first 4 Marios, either Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time (depending on whether you like games or are Satan, respectively), Final Fantasy 8, Monster Hunter Tri, etc.

But a few semi-obscure awesome games:
Money Puzzle/Money Idol Exchanger for NeoGeo is a great puzzle game in the Magical Drop style, but with a little bit more comboing.

Puyo Puyo Tetris, though it might have finally gotten a port. I love Tetris, I fiend for Tetris, I’m very picky about my Tetris, PPT is some of the better Tetris I’ve found.

Phantom Brave - Everyone thinks about the Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea series, but this is by the Disgaea guys with some bizarre twists on the formula - you put your heroes into items, and they possess them but can also fight with them, you can throw people off the level, etc. and the story is brutally tragic.

Rpgs and platformers will do

A bit different, but if you like arcadey planes and anime melodrama, Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero are all fantastic and emulate well.

Im going to assume you mean anything you cant currently emulate.

Port fucking Bloodborne to PC I BEG you. The game runs like hot garbage on its native console anyway.
