What? The vast majority of millennials are not in their 40's yet. SOME of the driveby Likers seem to be pro-Ukraine, so it's possible that the Hivemind is taking this more as a "fuck America!" moment than a "yay communism revive the USSR!" battlecry. However, many of the trannies do not visibly endorse Ukraine, or at most do so half-heartedly (like Werechicken, who has been pretty lackluster in his Ukraine tweets; what little takes he's offered have usually been couched in terms of tranny rights and blaming political centrists for enabling Putin/ not bombing Russia already). I think this is a little telling, because most people - from normies to journos to everyone in between - are waving Ukraine flags at every opportunity, at least on English language Twitter. Having a few score users piling onto a war-denialist tweet, with no more than a couple Ukraine flags showing between the lot of them, is a little sus.

The war has only been going on for a couple days now, so I think it's way too early for the wardrum honeymoon period to pass, and the TRAMSes' natural inclination towards hating Western civilization to assert its dominance over the more sober and natural jingoism we're seeing currently. But it would be funny if these guys start turning against American involvement in Ukraine, and Lou has to quickly switch back to the #WhyDieForDonbas mode he was in no more than a month ago.

Spoiler: perceptions of war and growing up in a post-soviet age

As a Millennial, my most vivid memory of nuclear terror was Ron Perlman narrating the intro to Fallout. I think we had one nuclear bomb drill when I was in second grade, and that was it. That's the extent of our appreciation for what happens if one of world's nuclear-armed nations decides to endorse catastrophic climate change in thirty seconds.

Honestly, though, I'm not convinced it's just ignorance about what nuclear weapons can do. I think younger generations have become more and more desensitized to the very idea of war itself (although not so much to the practice; when it comes to enduring the actual hardships of war, I think we've never been more ill-equipped, physically and emotionally).

I'm too young for Vietnam, but my teachers always said that the televised nature of the Vietnam War was one of the core reasons it became so unpopular. Boomers and Gen X kids could see grainy, technicolor images of napalm torching the jungle, and it horrified them.

Fast forward to Afghanistan and OIF/OEF, and you've got Millennials watching close-range, Army-cam footage of mosques blow up on Liveleak. And yeah, it was kind of disturbing - but it was like seeing a high def video game, or at worst, tricking a friend into clicking a link to penis mutilation clips on Ogrish. It was less "oh the humanity!", and more "whooooooaaahhh, dude, I didn't know buildings could blow up that much!"

And now with Ukraine, it's like everyone outside artillery range is glued to Tiktok, Twitter, and Reddit, flashing hashtags, StandingWithUkraine, and posting MCU, Star Wars, or Harry Potter memes. We can get realtime video of 4channers hanging out in downtown Kiev and #FYP e-thots filming missile strikes from out their car window, yet despite this (because of this?) it all seems far less real than ever before.

Anyways, I don't want to start doomposting, but I guess my point is - Millennials and Zoomers are batshit insane. I don't think Lou and his "let's all catch oppression like it was a pokemon" friends are alone in this. Ukraine could go up in a nuclear fireball tomorrow, live, on some poor teenagers' Twitch channel, and my generation's first reaction would be to spam Reddit with pictures of teary-eyed Tony Stark alongside the caption "U WILL BE AVENGED"

I live near Ukraine and people are getting extremely antsy Putin might decide to push further, into NATO territory. One of my colleagues is visiting his wife's relatives close to the border and he's been seeing a general mobilization all day. Grunts, APCs, tanks, helicopters, fighter jets patrolling the skies, everything. Sure, we are members of both the EU and the NATO, but neither of those are particularly close in case of an invasion. Besides the EU is being EU as usual, with every member state trying to further its own agenda instead of actually presenting a united front against Putin.

While a kinetic penetrator of that weight could be fairly effective when dropped from a sufficient height sadly he wouldn't do much against hard targets.

Anyway, the calcualtion goes: (mass×gravitational acceleration×drop height)/deformation slow down distance = average force of impact. In the case of Louis, (181kg×9,81m/s squared×12000 meters)/1,8 meters = 11837400 Newtons of force. To put it into context, one Newton is the force required to accelerate one kg of mass at the rate of one m/s squared in the direction of force applied. The problem with this, however, he'd just splash upon impact - extremely effective on a single, similarly squishy target, possibly fairly effective against a residential or commercial building, but I don't think he'd do well againt a bunker.
