He can smell them.
The Ghost of Kiev is love. The Ghost of Kiev is life.

Destroyed column of Ukrainian vehicles on the road to Nikolaev. Damn. It's the biggest one I've seen so far (link). They all have a blocky appearance, so they should be trucks...

(after closer inspection, I think they're light tanks)

Actually how do you take over a country in the modern age, when the leaders can just hide half a world away and still vote for policies and manage internal affairs, and even the money is mainly virtual?
you ignore any "government in exile" memes and install your own local government instead, and use your military on the ground to ensure that all law enforcement and security in the country are loyal to this new government, then use them to force all public institutions to recognize your new government as legitimage while denouncing the clowns in exile as cowards and traitors, and then you're done.

basically, once you control the armed forces and law enforcement on the ground, you quickly gain control over the rest of the state as well, and that's what "take over a country" means.

Pretty much. If you control the land and can enforce your rule, who really cares what a government in exile says.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here believe the narrative of Ukraine carrying out genocide against ethnic Russians?
"Genocide" is a strong word. Someone earlier in the thread posted a clip of Azov battalion crucifying a Russian separatist, so I would say there is a lot of legitimate ethnic tension in Ukraine.

Prepare to see more "saboteurs" in Kiev. The Mayor's office made the following statement:

Attention! For the more effective defense of the capital and the safety of its inhabitants from today, February 26, 2022, the curfew will be valid from 17:00 to 08:00. Such a curfew time is introduced until the morning of February 28. All civilians who are on the street during the curfew will be considered members of the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Please be sympathetic to the situation and not to go out on the streets.

This tells me that things are getting bad, no matter how much the narratives of "heroic resistance of Kyiv" get pushed out. That's true for most wars.

We've already seen what appears to be Ukrainians shooting each other after getting jittery, and to follow up on what some others have speculated, people in Kyiv might now be using the siege and "threat of saboteurs" to commit crimes, settle scores, and perhaps even do some low-key genociding of any ethnic Russians or Russian speakers still in the city.

Do you believe North Korean TV when they say Kim Jong-Un is the world's best golfer?
No, but I find it increasingly difficult to figure out or predict what my fellow Westerners will believe. Even after four years of Trump insanity, I didn’t really expect Republicans to be ready to believe Putin talking points. Sometimes you can’t really anticipate what people will believe unless you just ask them.

Literally nobody believes this in the sense of what genocide actually means in the minds of most people, not even the most hardcore supporters of the war. They do believe russians are being mistreated and even facing targeted ethnic attacks of discrimination and humiliation, but not mass extermination. If cornered they'd probably argue that the way Russians are (at least in their minds) mistreated in Ukraine amounts to a UN definition genocide (kind of like the white genocide in the west).

No, there never was a War against separatists in Ukraine and the entirety of "Russia" is just a cover-up for NWO clone warriors.
I've come to not understand why separatist or secessionist regions of countries shouldn't be allowed to leave.

>"but muh treason!"

If they don't wanna be part of a certain country, it's their right to self-determination. The "host" country is not entitled to their loyalty (and of course, the reciprocal is true: those who secede are not owed gibsmedats from the "host"). Calling separatists "traitors" is the behavior of an abusive BPD partner.
