Well, anyone still buying those resources will have to find an alternative to SWIFT.
The demand doesn't magically go away, just because you meddle with the banking....
And if we had a competent president he'd tell every oil company to start wildcatting like gangbusters to pick up the slack. But yes, it would mean Russia is hurt, Germany is hurt, France is hurt...actually I'm not seeing any downside whatsoever here.

Good grief, calm down. Shitposts on a gossip forum are not going to have any effect on whether or not alternative money networks are created and propagated in the world. It's going to be okay.
I have opinions and they are the hottest of takes!

YES, IT'S BECAUSE RUSSIA. It is our business because the rest of europe has to deal with ukrainian refugees. It is our business because Putin wants to rebuild the Russian Empire and that includes not just the Ukraine but also other european countries. He will not stop at Ukraine and who says he is going to stop once he has his fucking Russian empire? It's our business because Putin brought war back to europe. It's our business because Russia wants to overtake the second largest country in europe with over 40 million people living there. It is our buisness because Russia has nuclear weapons.

It is our fucking buisness.
Calm down retard

I'm just impressed Ukraine has held out this long. I thought if Russia invaded it would be a complete one-sided roflstomp lasting less than 48 hours.
They're being careful but I think they're just going say fuck it and mow anything and anyone down in their way soon, especially with all the sanctions and whatnot.

If Russia makes a competing system to SWIFT then the entire (current) global financial system just got in trouble, because now there is an alternative for everyone who cant/does not want to use SWIFT

Idk, but it seems like the more immediate danger is global economic depression. Given how interconnected the global economy is, this could be the financial equivalent of assassinating some random archduke. The 20's are gonna be lit af, I tell you hwhat.

This is perhaps the most despicable aspect of the entire shitshow. Both Putin, Lavrov and half the lawmakers in the country in no uncertain terms kept repeating "we are not going to attack Ukraine" for months, and yet here we are. I am seething.

No it does not. Source: am Sister Miriam, trust me.
I wonder how many were like that Commie in the Duma. "I voted to recognize the two provinces, not this bullshit". He's just the only one brave/stupid enough to say it publicly.

My thought is that its going to
hurt the Russian Banking system way more than its going to hurt the Russian businesses.
Its also another blow to the USD$ as a world reserve currency. Short term thinking by western leaders letting themselves get all worked up over twitter drama.

Maybe they mean zero degrees celcius? That's the freezing point of water. Kinda like how at the poles, there are large icebergs floating around in the water? A large body of water can be very close to the freezing point without being a giant block of ice. I could be wrong.

No, it was zero degrees Kelvin, cooled by the magic of the Ghost of Kyiv.

Not to mention that the Baltics being in NATO is a severe source of asspain for Vlad.

According to this German statement, the only Russian banks being cut off from SWIFT are the ones that were already sanctioned. So there's only two things from that which are meaningful: 1) the central bank sactions and 2) the EU/US has demonstrated willingness to sever Russian institutions from SWIFT. Genie is out of the bottle now.

I'm leaving these here

Russia will not annex Ukraine. The Russian Federation is in decline, the goal is to stabilize it. Incorporating subjugated peoples is not going to help Russia.
War has existed in Europe for ever.
It is not your fucking business.

Dont get why you would be smug about a country being forced to use alternatives to the corrupt global financial system, but this could be trouble in the future. If Russia makes a competing system to SWIFT then the entire (current) global financial system just got in trouble, because now there is an alternative for everyone who cant/does not want to use SWIFT. This would make "Banning someone from SWIFT" an order of magnitude less effective as a threat/sanction, including for Russia itself that now also gets to control the competitor to Swift.
Its not exactly unrealistic to assume that China and Russia could work together on such an alternative financial system.

That would be "bad" to put it carefully for the US and fellow western banking Globohomo in general. Its short term effective,
but its not the Russia "own" you think it is long-medium term.
Not that any of this would be bad imo, Globohomos Financial system is kinda fucked anyways if you have not noticed prices for everything constantly increasing.
Its just that that would qualify as a realistic Western, including American and European SHTF scenario depending on how badly our western-led global financial system would react to real competition from Chink-o-rubels .
Why would anyone choose Russia's shitty knockoff? Why the hell would China use Russia's knockoff for that matter when it's trying to make inroads in western and African nations? The West uses SWIFT. If you want to transfer money with Germany, you use Swift, or you get fucked. Germany isn't going to accept a system made expressly by their enemy Russia, a violent (currently) invading dictatorship, when SWIFT gets them by just fine.
