On another note, I know this has sort of been asked, but where exactly is the Russian State News on all this? Do the Russians not have war correspondents?

From what I know Russian state news is actively trying to avoid acknowledging that Russian troops are invading all of Ukraine. They're focusing hard on Donbass (which has been the least active front) and trying to paint an impression that they are only being opposed by paramilitaries and "bandits" rather than the Ukrainian military.

And no, it's not because they're embarassed. It's because they want to continue making this look like a peacekeeping intervention as much as possible.

I would have said highly unlikely last week. But the US media is rousing the villagers; into a war frenzy.
They could start gathering with pitchforks and torches to burn everything down soon.
The thing about this particular situation is that it can get totally out of hand in a hurry. And the Biden
Administration is a collection of truly stupid and incompetent people at every level.

There are no adults in the room. The ship has nobody at the wheel. And the icebergs are ahead.

I could see them at this point making a decision to blow shit up in Russia. To basically systematically
destroy their air defense and their civilian infrastructure. It would appear to be a low-risk option to
the people in the room. They would convince themselves that it was the safe and cheap option
compared to a ground war.

Putin's invasion of Ukraine was totally irrational IMO and against the country's own interests.
But he did it anyway. Last week at the airport, I watched someone get into a fight across the
counter at a mcdonalds over burger toppings. Everyone post-COVID is crazy and nothing

Dont get why you would be smug about a country being forced to use alternatives to the corrupt global financial system, but this could be trouble in the future. If Russia makes a competing system to SWIFT then the entire (current) global financial system just got in trouble, because now there is an alternative for everyone who cant/does not want to use SWIFT. This would make "Banning someone from SWIFT" an order of magnitude less effective as a threat/sanction, including for Russia itself that now also gets to control the competitor to Swift.
Its not exactly unrealistic to assume that China and Russia could work together on such an alternative financial system.

That would be "bad" to put it carefully for the US and fellow western banking Globohomo in general. Its short term effective,
but its not the Russia "own" you think it is long-medium term.
Not that any of this would be bad imo, Globohomos Financial system is kinda fucked anyways if you have not noticed prices for everything constantly increasing.

Some of the Russian tactics don’t make much sense to me. I’m no master general but zerging your armored formations forward with no combined arms support and only the infantry you can carry in APCs or unprotected trucks until you reach your objective or run out of gas seems like a great way to have your columns picked off by irregular forces or Javelins. Plus there’s no point in reaching your objectives if you just show up isolated, outnumbered, and out of fuel. This isn’t touch football where the first Russian who touches the Ukrainian parliament in Kiev instantly wins the war for Putin. A spearhead only works if you have forces behind it to exploit the breakthrough.
