There were elections during the Civil War and elections during WW2. If elections were put off by war, politicians could hold onto power by starting random wars any time they think they're going to lose the election.
You're catching on

But nice to know we can rely on the good character of Pelosi, Brandon, Schiff, Nadler and Schumer not to do anything unethical in a power grab while screaming "Our democracy is at risk"

In typical leftoid autist fashion, these virtue signalling fucks proceed to tar an entire people with the same brush.

Do they honestly believe that the common Russian person should be held accountable for Putin's actions?

I wish this was hyperbole, but it's stated clearly in two of the photos. As usual, there's no sense of nuance or context, "all Russians are war criminals" just like your political enemies are the immoral scum of the world and I'm sick of it.
ALL Russians are responsible. Even the ones who were arrested for protesting against the war.

Destruction of a fuel depot in Roven'ky, Peoples Republic of Lugansk, confirmed. An estimated 200 tons of diesel fuel was destroyed.

Still unclear what specifically destroyed it, but it was presumably blown up by the Ukrainian military.

Makes more sense for the Ukrainians to blow it up if they're falling back rather than leaving something vital to the Russians.

But I heard the Russians blew it up earlier, which didn't make sense, unless I account for Russian incompetence.

It's cute the NPCs think the west could create a no-fly zone over Ukraine and not get sucked into some direct action. You can't just stick a couple of F-22s in the air and ask the Russian jets nicely to leave the area. Sooner or later someone is shooting at someone else and it will escalate from there.

NPCs don't "think". They operate on a transactional algorithm like Russell Greer, in which they assume "if I say the magic words, other people will do the magic things and give me what I want."

When this doesn't happen (because that's not how the world fucking works), they REEEEEEE.

I'm not liking the constant lying that Ukraine is putting out as propaganda. It comes across as very Western but done in such a way that it's obvious bullshit that is so sloppy. At least when the U.S. runs a gay op there is some plausible deniability that when you try and show it to Boomers they just laugh in your face or discredit all the news. The whole world's eye is watching this, and making these grand lies of Super Pilots and 300-style Soldiers, and then getting disproved, just makes the situation look more desperate and quite frankly pathetic.

"The politics of post-independence Ukraine clearly demonstrates that the root of the problem lies in efforts by Ukrainian politicians to impose their will on recalcitrant parts of the country, first by one faction, then by the other. That is the essence of the conflict between Viktor Yanukovych and his principal political rival, Yulia Tymoshenko. They represent the two wings of Ukraine and have not been willing to share power. A wise U.S. policy toward Ukraine would seek a way for the two parts of the country to cooperate with each other. We should seek reconciliation, not the domination of a faction.

Russia and the West, and least of all the various factions in Ukraine, have not acted on this principle. Each has made the situation worse. Russia would not be able to impose a military solution without isolating itself at a time when many of its borders are already precarious. For the West, the demonization of Vladimir Putin is not a policy; it is an alibi for the absence of one."

Henry Kissinger 2014

Perhaps in the U.S.'s interest. The Interest of the people of Ukraine though should have been to give the breakaway Republics their independence or ask Russia if they want to have them. Regardless the current U.S. and Ukraine governments have mishandled this situation gravely.

Sorry if this has been posted already, I looked back an hour and didn't see it.

Sad, just sad. I'm nothing more than a farmer with a pitchfork, but even I wouldn't make the mistake of having a magazine fall out of a rifle on television if I were given the opportunity. Are we supposed to believe this man is a soldier and not a Volkssturm-tier conscript? Kiev is going to fall like Berlin did in 45.

Sanctions aren't just passive-aggressive boycotts. They're legally enforced by the US Treasury. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) exists as a peacetime extension of the 1917 Trading With The Enemy Act. Anyone who violates them will get legally buttfucked.

Then again, (bit of a PL), I have done OFAC checks of names at my job, and the software my company uses will often get false positives, such as matching the name "Allen" with "Allah akbar".

They don't. Trust me the Soyboys and U.S. government desperately want to get involved. They'd love nothing more than to trick anyone with even an inkling of patriotic sentiment to go overseas and die for their virtue while they shit up America.

I've wondered though are there are Chinese monarchists. There are monarchists in places that haven't had kings (France, which recently had a very large legitimist march recently) or emperors (Brazil) in a long time, longer than China (and there were efforts via a warlord or two to revive it, without counting Manchukuo). Sorry for the OT.
I doubt there would be because the Chinese monarchy was a bunch of Manchu half-savages under whom the Century of Humiliation occurred. They made the country so corrupt that it was 200 years behind the West technologically and organisationally speaking, even the Pajeets were an age ahead of them.
