Assuming you believe Russian statistics on fertility rates, the Russian adult mortality rate is 20% higher than Germany (a country with a higher median age). So even if Russians are having 0.2 more children per woman, they're losing 20% more people in adulthood.

A people is not necessarily its ruling figures, as we can see Russia's aggression being almost entirely Putin's. Do you honestly think every man forced to stay behind wants to die for them or their country? I'm all for independence and freedom, but you only have these if you win, and you have to know when to fold them. No one can have all they want in this life. There is no out for Ukraine. It's too late to join their neighbors, they gave up their nukes a long time ago, and we fucked them over hard. No one's coming to help. It doesn't matter if they enlist every civilian down the last child. There's dying with dignity and dying because you were too prideful to admit you lost. Unfortunately, the choice to decide which is being taken from the Ukrainian people.
I'm not even against NATO including Ukraine. In fact that would have been a good thing given the circumstances. The problem is that the west has been enticing Ukraine for years, aided in a coup and then encouraged ukraine to take a mega hardline stance against Russia. The thing is, this wouldn't even have been a problem if they had let Ukraine into NATO, because Russia would not have dared attack NATO. But since they refuse, NATO has more or less knowingly paved the way for this invasion.
Putin doesn't want to "erase" Ukraine; he wants to bring it back into the arms of Mother Russia.
