Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

5th, if you include all titles that Game Freak lists as mainline titles on their website:

-Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee
-Sword/Shield
-Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
-Legends: Arceus
-Scarlet/Violet

Also if these are all included, That means the Switch is now tied with the original DS for most mainline titles(9 when you include paired versions), and I doubt these newly announced games will be the last titles for the system.
I guess I should've clarified. I didn't want to include the remakes because those were more about creative liberty than actually pushing the series forward.

I have to say it's real sad that out of all these games, the Let's Go games are the ones that look the best.

It's obviously going to be Spain smh.
It could become just general "Mediterranean" with a focus on Spain like how unova had shit all over america despite being based off of New york

My first thought is that all the starters look ugly AF. The grass-type starter looks a little more appealing. I wonder how “open world” it will actually be. Or if they’ll still have gyms or some equivalent. Also, at this point, I’m never expecting polish/refinement from a Pokemon game.

I’m kind of surprised that gen 9 is coming out now, but Gen 8 was 3 years ago. Seems like ever since Gen 5, the generations have always been roughly 3 years. I don’t remember why Gens 3 and 4 both lasted roughly 4 years.

From what I gather, this region looks like it's based off of Spain or maybe the Iberian Peninsula in general (so Portugal as well). Since the national dex controversy, I wonder what Pokemon will be cut or included this gen.

I literally said "what the fuck" as soon as I saw it. Like what the fuck.

Game Freak, slow the fuck down so you can polish up your games, Jesus.
It's just weird since they announced that despite gen 9 being a focus, hissui is getting some webanime focused entirely on itself, so its not like they are dropping gen 8 immediately like they did for other gens when they ended. I think SV has promise but still wish they could slow the fuck down because pumping shit out just results in market oversaturation eventually

I was gonna say, I like the look so far, but they aren't giving us a lot of room to breathe. I used to play the absolute shit out them until a new one was out, just breeding for shinies and having a blast. It's like they have to keep pushing more games out because they know the games only have enough content (even with a few updates) to keep people interested for a few months, max.

Scarlet and Violet look alright. Looks like another SwSh for me with hint of PLA. Just hope the starters don’t look like shit and the pseudo legendary is cool.

I mean, compared to yesterday’s nothing burger Digimon video - seriously, I just want a release date for Survive - I’m not too surprised they announced Gen 9. Frankly, I’m more surprised they’re actually making it more akin to Legends. For how much we’ve bitched about this series needing to change, it’s still amazing that they’re actually making changes.

Definitely not giving Pokémon as a series any room to breathe though. I’ll still argue that the New Gens serve more to get new Merch going than actually sell the games at this point - it’s fucking Pokémon, it’ll sell hotcakes no matter how shit the games are.

My only hope is that the starters don’t turn into blatant Anthro Furbait. I feel like that’s asking too much at this point.

I’m never gonna get my Coliseum or Gale of Darkness remakes, am I?

If only mirror b could be a superboss in the future just to hear his theme get a remix

I'm interested in how overworld mons work this time around, seems like they go pretty far away for flying mons compared to legends, or if we will be able to catch pokemon in towns like those swablu hanging on the flags

Not a fan of these new starters, the grass and water ones look like DeviantArt fakemons, and the fire one looks like a monster you'd see in a knock-off Pokemon mobile game from China. I'd say "wait until the final forms are revealed", but given their recent track record with both the 7th and 8th gen starters and how their evolutions turned out...

Apparently people on Twitter also really don't like how the new in-game models for the player characters and trainers look.

It's so early and minimal an announcement, I only am feeling expecting for more info than having an opinion on it.

SwSh was ok, a step back from Sun and Moon overall, better than XY. I'm somewhat disappointed in another Euro region, probably cause two of the weakest Gens we're Galar-England and Kalos-France. Would of liked a South America, Steppe, or Middle Eastern region adapted. Surprised the region isn't named.

On the starters, I think I like Fire the most, it's round doughy nature reminds me of Gen 1. The ducks ok, appears to bea sailor. Whoever called the Grass a Neopet it's spot on. However, starters first forms are rarely indicative of their final form. Froakie and Sobble both start out longer shit, and end up decent. Gen 2 and 5 are good games with no good starter pick.

I'm most curious what they gimmick will be. Mega Evolutions were ok, but I don't miss them, Ultra Beasts we're dumb, but regional forms were fantastic and are now a staple, Dyna/Gigantomax were just worse Mega Evolutions.

New gimmick will be a transformation like the frenzy in PLA.

It involves letting the 1st pokemon, usually a very close friend, faint and sending out your 2nd pkmn who transforms by the trauma of losing said friend.

Prof. Algerrobo/Carot? describes the process as a tingling feeling on your back.

Your pokemon goes super saiyan

This is fake. They already had a dragon evolutionary line around the theme of apples in the forgettable Gen V and VI games.

I don't know if you're being retarded or pretending to be retarded, but that is a screen shot from the Pokemon Direct that aired this morning.

Also, on top of Applin being Gen VIII, not V or VI, the croc seems to more be based on a chilli pepper than an Apple, especially since it's a Fire type.

I still haven't played PLA yet (my brother's been liking it) but I haven't been in the thread for a while and I just popped back in to say that as the residential Mewtwo fag, I have to belatedly say Mewtwo is now I guess 26 years old, and have a weird Japanese thing about baking with Pokémon while Psyduck smugly judges you.

Yeah I got nothing.

Call me gay, but commercials/promotional material like this is very charming. No battling, just showing casual interactions between humans who aren't Trainers and Pokemon. It'd be nice if they made a slice-of-life series with real-life humans and animated Pokemon kind of like this.
