This is the most significant news we got in a while:

there's a good answer to this actually: because it's much easier to use legitimate commercial and military transport to move equipment and personnel in and out of a corrupt European shithole than it is to do that in and out of a tropical island paradise shithole. It would be much harder to disguise staffing and equipping a bioresearch lab in the Caribbean than it would be in Ukraine and in the South Pacific I don't even think it would be possible; you'd pretty much have to do it completely black which is risky and consumes human resources.

I have no opinion on the schizo quotient of this specific claim and just ran into it here on this thread but the idea that there would be biolabs in Ukraine doesn't seem implausible to me at all.

The real question is why not do it in the Southern Cone and they probably do.
There are definitely biolabs in the Ukraine that get funding from and do research for US organisations. It's uncertain if any of that is weapons or gain of function research (same thing in every practical sense), but it's plausible given the US wants to do such research but is prevented by law from doing it in-country and the EU would also have issues with it. Meaning you want a compliant non-EU country in which to do it. Few so compliant as the Ukraine. And if it had a more explicit weapons focus than gain of function for disease prevention (like Wuhan) you wouldn't want to do it China or anywhere else that might compete with you militarily.

So it is plausible and not mad schizo to consider this can be true, and it not wildly improbable. HOWEVER, probably schizo to think it has anything to do with current events and blowing them up as was suggested earlier, would be a TERRIBLE idea and not in Russia's interests. In the event that it actually turned out to be true that they (a) were doing bioweapons research and (b) had been blown up, it would be more likely US forces / proxies doing it than Russia that would be more interested in not having leaks on their doorstep. Anyway, unless I hear some convincing evidence I don't believe any biolabs have been deliberately targeted by anyone. Happy to entertain they exist, though.

Kinda sucks to know one of my all time favorite boxers is likely going to be dead by the end of this. I know there is a lot more important going on so yeah bad take or whatever, but what can I say? It hits and is really lame. Fucking war, man.
I really like the guy too, he was boxing for a few solid years. War is a bitch friend.

I hope he's ok. Unless this goes a lot more sideways than it already has there's good reason to think he'll be fine, the Russians don't need celebrity martyrs on their hands and precision weapons mean even urban warfare isn't the mass casualty sport it used to be.

Brief boxing sperg: I liked the Klitschko bros well enough as fighters but they weren't the most thrilling performers. The Gypsy King is something else entirely, his fights with Deontay Wilder were fucking savage and he has bucketloads of personality too. Can't believe the kids (:hulk:) prefer that fancy MMA stuff over the noble art of two large men punching each other in the head the way God and Queensberry intended.

Probably already posted, but I found this a bit more difficult to watch than I expected. B&B on the Ukraine/Russian border just one day prior to the invasion.

Looks like he was here:

Well. Looks like Mother Russia is playing God and turning night into day. If this isn't a warning to the Ukranians to just surrender instead of poking your chest out then they're in for a world of hurt. Fucking ouch.
the problem is when it comes to invasions no one likes it when you threaten home and country, these aren't just regular people they're people that don't have anything to lose. the won't stop until they're thoroughly demoralized, and it would probably take russia nuking all of ukraine to do so.

Didn't someone in this thread say that the Swiss wouldn't dare pull something like this for fear of looking corrupt, taking political sides, etc?
Swiss is very well integrated with NATO/EU ecosystem despite their "neutrality".

Well, you know - their like have no other options.

Since when is folk/folks a gendered term?

Hey Zelensky, durig wartime isn't normally advisable to evacuate civilians to minimize casulties, or is this part of some masterstroke grand plan to paint Putin as someone deliberately genociding civilians because someone got shredded by artillery because you didn't order evacuations in the days preceding the war?
He learned that trick from the Russians in Stalingrad.
