These people are so out of touch it's actually amazing.

I can't believe that there are still people in this thread that can't rationalize why Putin didn't want NATO to share a border with him.

"C'mon bro just let the rest of the modern world gang up against you we won't all attack you at once pinky promise"

Not saying the invasion was a good move but calling Putin insane for doing it is a bit disingenuous
This can be applied to China too. If Russia is invaded, or fails the invasion and ends up getting a pro-western regime change, they'll have an enemy nation right on their heads. China will support Russia if Nato intervenes.

Per Ukrainian Twitter:
18:00 - Kharkiv has surrendered, in Russian hands.
19:00 - Kharkiv holding, mayor says they'll never give up.
20:00 - Kharkiv soldiers destroy 75,000 Russian units, including 86,000 tanks. Asking for donations and NATO support.
21:00 - 17:00 - Air raid sirens in the city.
18:00 - Kharkiv has surrendered, in Russian hands.
That is the funniest thing I have read all god damn day.

I hate how leaders in Civ 5 always claim they are stronger and are about to genocide you even though they lost 90% of their cities, every production land is pillaged, they are surrounded by your units, and are about 3 turns to lose the game.

If gas prices nationwide become $5+ a gallon to “stick it to Russia”, there will definitely be protests over that. Not everyone has the luxury to pay for those gas prices

I dunno about this whole muh nazis/fashists narrative but there's no doubt that Zelensky's blatantly trying to get civilians killed to make war crime accusations against Russia. Literally telling people there's "no age limit" and to come get guns and molotovs and go charge at Russian forces is despicable, but the media's glorifying him for it and acting like Russian allegations of civilian human shields are Snopes false.

Possibly.

However, NATO was a dying organization without a purpose. Russia has now single-handedly made it relevant once again. If this isn't a geopolitical own goal, I don't know what is.
The executives of several defense contractors have no doubt had to call their doctors for erections lasting over 4 hours. Anyone who makes air defense gear is probably already getting orders or at least inquiries right now.

Nah. Germany needs to fully break free from American influence and finally accept its role as the natural hegemon in central and Western Europe. People like Merkel and Scholz are scared of pissing off America, but really all Germany needs to be independent is a strong army, which it could have relatively soon.

The problem is that America is a casino-circus-strip mall masquerading as a country and it needs to be kicked out of Europe. Europe’s vulnerability rests on its reliance on US military power and proximity to US “culture”.
Its almost like the American establishment does not appreciate the thought of an independent "heatlands region" because that will mean more competition for global influence.
Especially the "Germany VS Russia" divide is a clearly defined and unapologetic goal of US foreign policy for this exact reason.
This is also why Germany is acting self-destructively by rational standards.

The entire post cold-war rivalry with Russia is only a thing because Uncle Sam really does not like the idea of a united European continent,
and since Germany is a US Colony in all but legal paper work it will forever keep serving US interests.

The "Heartlands Theory" is essential to understand what the fuck is going on when talking about Germany ,Russia and the US.
