Yeah he always does. Every time Phil encounters a boss that requires you to confront them head on, he just runs away to kite and bait openings all the time.

The problem with this method is that he wastes so much time on fighting it that it takes an absurd amount of time. 3 hours in and he still hasn't beaten the Crucible Knight.

He has played this way in every souls game, if he just didn't play like a pussy he could kill the boss much faster

How long has he been fighting this boss for? It's just a Dude in Armor™ why does he always have so much trouble with bosses like this?

Because all this time of playing Dark Souls and he still doesn’t understand how to strafe or use his opponent’s momentum against them.
When the enemy thrusts their sword forward, what do you do? Roll forwards or backwards?
It’s forward. You let them move past you and then stab their back.
Phil fights every enemy the same way, wait for them to attack, roll away when they do, counterpoke. Rinse and repeat. He has no concept of “punishing” movement, just attack-dodge-attack-dodge.
This is why he’s never beaten these games without a mountain of outside help. No problem solving skills.

I don't even think he's rushing it which is the issue. The actual place he should be is very interesting and full of neat exploration. There is nothing interesting about wasting 2 hours fighting in a boss arena getting your ass slapped when you should be doing what you're meant to be heading towards.

This is like trying to fight Havel and getting smacked each time instead of just saying fuck it and fight the Taurus demon.

So after 2 hours of attempting the Crucible Knight Phil has gone on break and decided to give up and go elsewhere.

He also said he will beat the first real boss so easily now after all this shit. Even though all the bosses he's fought so far are pitifully easy and just meant for a slightly higher level. The real challenge is the first story boss, Margit, who will turn Phil's asshole inside out.

EDIT: Well I'm eating my words, Phil beat him in like two tries. How does he spend 2.5 hours on easy mode bosses but always somehow beats the tougher ones accidentally

Im sure you and many others are going to hate my take on your "conversation" with the one who likes his coffee cold, im not gonna even embed the video here... I flipped through that 2 hour video and maybe listened to maybe a minute and a half of it totally. Gathering a bunch of wheelchairs, trolls, ex DSP mods, and the coffee clown to argue amongst themselves on whose the biggest attention whore is probably the single most autistic thing I've seen since Fred Fuchs.

amazes me phil has played every single game in this entire franchise and still doesn't understand how input que's work.

if you're being hit and you panic mash dodge, you will dodge as soon as your character is able to do so, this can fuck up timing. if you're getting hit, don't press dodge. wait until you can dodge then press it to time it.
