They added a bitterent to the fuel. Didn't stop em. The fuel was poisonous though so pilots would pull their belts in after a shot, 3 notches a week is all you could drink before getting sick.
I heard hospitals long ago have had to withdraw alcoholic hand wash (altho it might have re-appeared in this COVID age) as nothing could be added to it that could stop alcos from consuming it. I drink a beer every two-three months, and a tiny amount of spirits per week, so it seems strange to me.

Gotta say it's been kind of funny seeing some of the people who just a week ago were calling Trudeau a tyrant in the trucker thread praising Russia for violently shutting down anti war protests on the flimsy basis of "they're all cia globohomo insigators". It's only human but the quickness of the sea change is what's strange to observe.
a russian anti war protest getting the boot in russia, which everyone knows is a shit country with no freedom is totally the same as canada, an allegedly free western democratic country getting butthurt about honking, why would anyone else think different?!

Someone has been documenting verifiable equipment losses in the war thus far. Numbers are skewed heavily toward Russian losses. This is probably because of a lack of photographic evidence for Ukrainian losses due to OPSEC measures taken by the Russian military. Here is a link for anyone interested.

Yep, Armenians were kicking ass in the 2020 war until Shusha fell and the reality check happened. There's going to be a lot of disinformation and lies from both sides in the coming weeks, be skeptical and check where you get your info from.
I got called a pro-Putin Nazi for suggesting that people need to wait for a week or so before coming to any conclusions.

I mean I do love Putin and I am a Nazi but that is entirely beside the point.

What makes you think they're having "such a hard time?" Their advance on Kiev is outpacing the US's advance on Baghdad by leaps and bounds. Most of the claimed losses and wins by both sides are propaganda, with much more coming from the Ukrainian side while the Russians are keeping mostly quiet. There are some facts that seem fairly solid, like the defenders at Snake Island having surrendered, but even that's hard to tell with all the fog of war. It'll likely be a while before we have a clear idea of what's happened in this conflict.
If anything Russia is showing that armoured spearheads + massed artillery + large scale air assault behind enemy lines is not an outdated doctrine.

yeah I think the idea that putin stopped invading for a day and the fact the forces are kinda trying to be very courteous with their conquest shows they are doing just fine sure they have fuck ups and dumb moments but there isn’t any real heroic stands that are keeping Ukraine free. If Putin wanted Zelensky’s head he could probably just do it right now with a high casualty rate.

It was almost fucking depressing.

We spent DECADES thinking they could match us.

THEY HAVE 50K MORE TANKS! A MILLION MORE TROOPS! THOUSANDS OF MORE JETS!

>Be you
>Spend time hearing about Russia
>USSR troops know karate
>You kinda know Judo and brawling in bars
>USSR troops have super-rifles
>You have '16 from The 'Nam
>USSR tanks invulnerable and can submerge to cross rivers
>The M1A1 caught on fire in the motorpool
>HIND chopper is SUPAH CHOPPER!
>The Apache fell on a school bus
>SUPER BODY ARMOR FOR USSR!
>You have a Kevlar vest and helmet
>SUPER NVG SYSTEMS CAN SEE THROUGH WALLS
>Your NVG-7's drain the battery after 20 or so hours
>Everyone tells you that you're going to die and Sov gonna dab on your corpse
>Your own leaders tell you you're going to die
>Your own citizens say you can't win against the Great Bear
>Wall goes down
>discover they're more ill-equipped than you
>discover they're dumber than a tanker
>discover they're lazier than a black finance clerk 20 minutes before lunch
>discover their drunker than you are
>Realize you wasted your fucking life

That Defcon site is bullshit, 9-11 was Defcon 2 and so was the Cuban Missile Crisis, if it really was at that level everyone would be freaking the fuck out and I'd be getting goodbye calls from family member ready to deploy.

Yeah, I was going to say that I've seen what they report as the Defcon level fluctuate wildly over the past week or two between different commands and as a whole.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to prove here? That it isn't hypocritical to decry the government shutting down peaceful protest in one case but praise it in another, because the two places have different systems of governance?

That Defcon site is bullshit, 9-11 was Defcon 4 and so was the Cuban Missile Crisis, if it really was at that level everyone would be freaking the fuck out and I'd be getting goodbye calls from family member ready to deploy.
I second this, defcon 2 supposedly means ready to deploy in 6 hours but I know people in the Polish army and they say its business as usual there, they haven't even been called up for any sort of exercise or training or anything

Did you know the US's major beef with Japan and China is they intentionally devalue their currencies to promote economic growth?
I know you want Russia to come out ahead but if you think the economic pressure being placed on Russia is gonna help their economy is just pure cope lol.

Anyone good at translating Slavic languages?

This is allegedly "Ukrainian Member of Parliament Illia Kyva" speaking out against Zelenskyy, claiming he knew that war would break out and did nothing to prevent it.

1646010185565.png

My slavic is a little rusty but what I could make out of it is that he says that it isn't heroic to send people into their deaths and that heroism should be about protecting the people.
He indeed says that Zelensky knew about the war but didn't try to negotiate peacefully. And that he (Zelensky) will have to take responsibility for this sooner or later.

Thank you for answering my request!
