There was briefly a movement to try to get women to use that word instead of vagina but we all know that when we say “vagina” context will indicate whether we mean the whole area or just the actual vaginal canal. The word “vulva” is an uncomfortable creepy word. Not because of what it’s associated with just the word itself, the way it looks written down and the way it sounds. Vuvuzela is the same, there’s just something about these words. Vagina is fine.

You hit the nail on the head. I grew up in a very Catholic and conservative family, and when I finally broke free from that mindset I was so happy to find other atheists and ex-Christians online. The online atheists spaces I found were all very left, but as a general rule they seemed to value objective evidence and reality. That said, even back in 2008, the trans movement seemed to get a “get out of jail free” card from a lot of atheist writers/bloggers.

It's the natural consequence of centering the main difference between the LGBT community and the vast majority of the population—that being their sexual preferences (with the T thrown in for inclusivity). The entire reason this all began in the first place was because certain homosexuals, lesbians, &c. wanted the rest of the world (particularly the West) to look at their attractions and call them normal and to be given certain rights and privileges otherwise denied them because of their attractions. Focusing on that inevitably allows other groups with deviant interests to come forward demanding their time in the sun (like pedophiles, zoophiles, and so forth), with varying results. We're seeing an increase in public expressions of degeneracy because ideas of tolerance and acceptance are being abused and used in an "all or nothing, scenario. And I've the feeling we'll accept more than we reject, in the end.
