Technically the mutual defense clause would imply that they do, but "obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power" is a very broad concept that could be fulfilled by sending a box of crackers through economy mail.
Ngl, it looks really bad if your shit get invaded and all your supposed allies just sit with their dick in their hands and send you crackers.

So this isn't unexpected and I imagine the Russians have said they can afford up to one years worth of war.
i sincerely doubt this decrepit pitiful excuse for a war machine ive seen try and fail to bully a significantly less advanced nation can afford a years siege with their monopoly money.

mean Russia has spent the last 10 years preparing themselves if America cuts them off from swift or does financial fuckery to them.
well i mean his brilliant response was to tell the banks to delay it juuuuuust a bit longer and he apparently was delusional enough to think his impotent forces were capable of seeing past the confusion to quickly capture ukraine so i highly doubt that especially with his frantic ILL NUKE YOU ALL shit that hes failed to follow through on beyond his bravado and posturing.

They also have chinas large economy as well to help prop them up as well.
china does a significant thing to lift a finger for an ally theyve so far only offered mealy mouther platitudes and timid neutrality bordering on support for and their highly foreign dependent economy goes down the shitter too. all these nations are posturing bitches

I look at Russia like this. They moved into china's sphere of influence and they're actively helping each other in intelligence fields. Unless the west actually sanctions china and hurts China we could sanction Russia all we want and it won't mean jack shit because India and china are not party to the same regulations. Russia can simply sell it's grains and oil to china. Sure china might be cut out of the petrodollar but Russia could say china buy our rubble's instead and trade oil in rubble's and unlike some small country in Africa Russia and china have the military might and nukes to say fuck you to the imf financial system.
lol buy our monopoly money more and risk pissing off the parts of the world with actual functioning currency, brilliant. also no china has jack shit its why they posture just like lil ol putin. so far it seems theyve only said theyll continue normal trade which iirc isnt actually beyond 20 percent of their exports anyway

If the EU agrees to Zelensky’s request for EU membership, I blame the US, EU, and Zelensky for escalating the war

Go to Zelensky' wikipedia page. 196 references. He was only elected in 2019. The PR machine started as soon as he became President. I'm guessing the west has a lot of money riding on him.

Forcing Ukraine into the EU and keeping the separist regions would 🦆 the EU over pretty hard. How many countries can Germany support?
a few probably, problem is it's not 2015 anymore and any "we can do it" slogans have long become stale. add post-covid depression, inflation and a general grim outlook, most people aren't in the mood for that shit anymore, no matter what some twittertards write to make them feel better.

yeah obviously "a hurricane blew through and now shit's fucked" is different from "literally a war that might blow up to be THE BIG ONE" are different, but there's a certain unique calm to be had of just doing your normal shits while everything is collapsing around you that's a special sort of comfy
I've done that. Go outside in a hurricane.
It was rrestible but I learned to resist when a roof tile flew by my head. Bullets ?

idk what putin even hopes to accomplish tbh, even if he absorbs all ukraine he has

1. tons of other nations who will most likely be accepted immediately into nato

2. a bitter and costly and ruinous insurgency lasting years if his cobbled together decrepit empire lasts long enough unlike the last one he creams over in his sleep

3. impending hardship and inability for expansion or economic growth with nearly all the world hating your guts and the rest quietly humming in the corner not wanting to be seen as being too pro-you.

he should know all about failed invasions and poor logistics since hes such a soviet fanboy that was their entire claim to fame that wasnt all the bitter embarrassments they suffered.

it means fuck you russia were joining the west and your crybully antics are pushing us further into their economic block. i actually dont think putin sees the value in that because i think people ascribed too much rationality to putin and assumed this was all about preventing ukraine from just being too buddy buddy economically with the west vs russia but i think its because hes still under the delusion that his granny of a nation state can actually pose a viable threat outside his aging nukes and thinks he can still wage world war and therefore needs to not be bordered by "hostile nations" and to capture strategic points to "thwart them".
Even if Russia suffers for a while due to the sanctions, which is still to be seen since they have been prepping for it with China etc for a while, they've still accomplished a major feat by continuing the separation of Europe and America. The US has, for a long time and to the disdain of our critics, been the power broker behind most of Europe's democracies. At the end of the day despite all the legends of glory, Europe was still bankrolled, rebuilt and reinforced by American money and military power. This pan Atlantic broship was not to last though and Biden seems to be the geriatric dipshit left holding the proverbial hot potato - he is the president under which the camel's back broke and who completely decimated any lasting respect Europe had for the US. And Putin put the final nail in that coffin by responding to Bidens huffing and puffing by invading anyway, and Biden only being able to levy sanctions in response.

Europe has completely lost faith in America and while Europe is becoming more united with one another the US is becoming more fragmented on all levels.

So really, even if Putin gets fucking merc'd on live tv tomorrow by The Ghost of Kiev Samyuli himself, he's still accomplished more than any Russian ruler in the last 50 years by driving a lasting wedge between Europe and the US.

His name had made it to the US before all of this for anybody who somewhat follows global politics...so that would make sense.

Its kind of funny to think that if this doesn't lead to a total nuclear holocaust, Russia is going to literally be a poz and soy free zone. Hmmm, how hard is it to learn to use those weird Cyrillic characters?
I dunno, ask the FSB men as you're being beaten for shitposting on not Puetain approved kiwi farms dot net

it would also mean the just ignored it's own rules and made a state a member that makes even greece look good. I doubt they gonna do it, but this is clown world.

Take with a grain of salt but a blue checkmark Ukrainian account is saying Ukrainian pilots are going to be flying from Polish airfields if necessary.

Very fake news - all those nations have said that they're not handing over their aircraft. And if they're not even going to do that, I highly doubt they're going to let the Ukrainians fly combat missions from their territory.
