I don't really believe anything. He's just said NATO isn't sending planes. The Ukrainians claim they're picking up planes. That would mean it would be Ukraine leaving with planes, not sending them. Not saying which I believe is true, just that both of them have every reason to lie or tell misleading truths.

I'd say yes, right now confidence in Russian currency is at an all time low but I figure if Ukraine is going to get swallowed up in less than a month then we'll gradually see the reverse happen over the next few years as sanctions slowly get lifted over time.

Good luck trying to get any though. I had the same thought as you and tried. Every route I tried got blocked, even just straight trying to buy paper notes through travel companies.

Gotta remember: The Ground Campaign in the gulf war took the US/Coalition an entire month, and that was after a month of sustained air operations and round-the-clock bombings.

Geographically speaking, Iraq is a much smaller country compared with Ukraine by sheer distance.

So, I'm not ready to meme on the Russian military until we start hitting the 1 month mark. It took the most advanced powerful army in the world an entire month to finish off the Iraq Army after bombing them back to the stone age, so I don't see why Russia is a dismal failure of a military for not finishing the war in the span of a week, against a country with a better military and a lot more ground to cover.

In 6 days the Rooski military has advanced in the north and east (along narrow fronts) about the same distance deep into Ukraine as the US did in the first week of invading Iraq and also about the same distance in the south (on a broader front, but the south isn't defended by anywhere near as much Ukrainian soldiers and stuff as Kiev and Kharkov)

The US and Russian advances were both deliberately not as fast and hard as they could have been, for two different reasons. The US did not have a northern front because Turkey wouldn't allow us to use their land as an invasion launch pad. So we deliberately advanced a little slower from Kuwait. Russia wanted to try to decapitate Ukrainian military and government and see if the rest would surrender. They didn't. In week two the US was outpacing its supply lines and had to hold up for almost a week around Najaf to fix the supply problems. If the war is still happening in Ukraine in a week Russia will probably be in a similar situation, needing a pause because the front is advancing too fast for the current supply system

Once the generals decided time to pick things up advances went rather quickly both for the US in Iraq and now for Russia in Ukraine

In my living memory it only deprecated and never gained value. Dropped from 15 to 30 in 2000-ish where it floundered for about ten years, then collapsed to 70 after 2014 where it stayed until now and is currently plummeting below 110 towards Zimbabwe.

Apparently the donated planes would have updated avionics that would require additional training for the pilots. So Russia might infer that they are being piloted by NATO pilots.
