Where I'm at, at least, there is a shortage. It's extremely difficult to schedule a test. So unless there's something I'm missing, if she's forced to get tested, she'll take that opportunity away from someone who might actually need it, just so she could get her manic travel beeze on and fatten herself up on another country's fast food.

If she had read the CVS website she would have seen it is a rapid PCR test, not a rapid result test. They do not offer the 15 minute test. I don't know what she needs to get back into Canada. I do know that you have to have a PCR test to get back into the US. Our employees that travel outside the US aren't going to Canada though, so I don't know if since we share a border if the requirement for that would be different. Our employees are required to have a negative PCR test, so they do the rapid PCR, which is normally back in 18-24 hours.

@pb & bbj - they're free if you're an American Citizen and/or have insurance. She had to pay out of pocket because she is Canadian and her insurance probably doesn't cover it. The US government is going to pick up the cost of her test, so I find it hilarious she had to pay.

Covid tests at CVS aren't $150--they're free. The trouble is scheduling them--they're often booked weeks out. There are places you can pay to be tested straightaway, but those places aren't CVS. Unless she somehow paid to jump ahead in line, she didn't pay for that test.

Also, there is a rapid test that will give you results in an hour, but that's different than the PCR test. That takes a few days. I haven't been watching, so I don't know if they require a PCR test specifically to re-enter. If they don't...whoops.

ALSO ETA: I wondered about the foreign national element, but all they ask is an address. I don't think a SSN is required, and even if they did, I would be surprised if they run you through any kind of database to make sure you're a citizen. What's to stop her from entering a fake address?

They just require a negative test for entry, she totally wasted her money. And I’m pretty sure she paid bc we probably aren’t giving free tests to foreign nationals but i can’t verify that.
