@Borscht how many people in Russia consider what happened in Euromaidan to be a "coup"?
Once again, I cannot speak for everybody, but the majority agree the government change in 2014 was not an organic, grass roots movement. The reasons for this are many, but the two most prominent ones are as follows:

1) the majority of Ukraineans did not have an axe to grind with Russia until the Crimean debacle, so the openly antagonistic course of the new government (breaking the trade agreement, threatening not to extend Crimean naval base lease, immediately establishing course towards NATO) gave most Russians a whiplash. Of course, the sentiment changed over the following 8 years, but we are talking about what it felt like then.

2) the US was openly gloating about the success of yet another "emergent democracy" they spent 5 billion dollars to "support". And, of course, there was the optics of Victoria Nuland handing out cookies to protesters. This is a hilarious example of cross-cultural miscommunication: in the US, handing out baked goods is perceived a sign of support and goodwill, but in Russia it is the ultimate sign of betrayal (we have a kindergarden tale about a boy who ratted out his WW2 resistance cell and had them all killed over a barrel of jam and a basket of cookies).

The Ukraineans desire to lead a better life within European Union was/is understandable, but the inherent Slavic cynicism makes many Russians think the Ukraineans would be treated as second-rate citizens in EU at best (thus all the "cleaning Polish toilet" jokes) while in Russia they would be/are treated as equals. With every other family having relatives in Ukraine and about 5 million Ukraineans earning money here, they are/were not discriminated against, at least compared to the muslims.

I reiterate that I speak only from my personal experience and expouse the opinions of the people I personally know.

It matters because at the nexus of Ukrainian corruption, you keep finding the family names of the current US President, the Speaker of the House, and the 2012 GOP presidential nominee/current Utah Senator. It makes American claims ring particularly hollow, and clarifies that this has nothing to do with "freedom" or "democracy." It's the corrupt oligarchs from America battling with the corrupt oligarchs in Russia over access to a money laundering operation. Taking sides in this fight is like taking sides in a Mexican drug cartel battle. The only people who matter here are innocents caught in the crossfire.
Nice speech. You should work in the UN.
But I'll say this, do you honestly believe that corruption in Ukraine is any different that corruption elsewhere?
Why do you care? It's not like any of us are getting new graphics cards this decade anyway.

I always thought it was weird how, whenever some kind of squabble or happening occurs anywhere on the planet, sociopathic asshole US politicians suddenly appear on camera with their best "deeply concerned" faces to lecture the foreigners on what they should or shouldn't be doing. I don't think Putin is capable of making them mind their own business, but he's making them hilariously mad so I'll take it.
Not as nice a speech as the other guy, but I too would like to smoke weed and not care about anything.

Putin could maybe de-escalate it by NOT INVADING SOVEREIGN NATIONS
I think Putin has flimsy justification in some respects, but just telling him to not do it won’t stop the invasion because it’s already happening. Zelensky needs to step up and stop making it into a bigger war. He’s begging the US to join and then it just becomes a war between US/Russia, instead of two Slavic nations

they are also all wrong or produce bad cocktails.

making Thermite to break rails and bridges is much safer and super easy---
you really dont want random civilians to sabotage random infrastructure either

reality is that improvised weapons like molotovs simply aren't useful. this isn't the winter war, these people aren't up against 1930s era trash tanks that can actually be impacted by throwing a burning bottle full of tar and gasoline on top of them. no, against modern equipment this just doesn't do anything.

if you as a civilian want to damage an armored vehicle of any kind, you need heavy weapons or strong IEDs. and since you probably don't have access to a panzerfaust or at4, your only real option is to build a big bomb with a remote detonator, bury it under a road, then blow it up when a tank or truck or IFV or whatever is on top of it.

The Americans would have not won the Revolutionary War if the British didn't have autistically strict military techniques and relatively new firearms.

A civilian army dosent work great when you can be caught on thermals and hit with projectiles reliably from 100+ yards away

Which is retarded because if the west and Russia agreed to keep it to Ukraine and no nukes and if both sides could trust the other to stick to it, Ukraine would be totally and completely decimated in the war.

The guy is more bothered about his presidency that anything else. Every solution he throws around just end up with him incharge of a smoldering wasteland of civilian corpses, but at least he's in charge.

If true, this does give a sense that this is very far from any sort of stereotypical 'total war.' If Zelenskyy can be toppled or made to sign whatever Putin wants, I doubt the Russians want the bill for repairing infrastructure. If the war goes on for longer, this will surely change.

This guy is the mayor of Chernihov literally offering 300$ for a head of Russian soldier (dead or alive) and also money for destroying vehicles.

СКАЗОЧНЫЙ ДОЛБОЕБ. :story:
There is a war raging in Yemen right now that's killed at least half a million people. The US is an active participant providing enormous logistical support to the Saudis, No one, and I mean not one single person in the west gives the remotest solitary fuck.
Nobody gives a chicken shit about Yemen, to be honest.
Are they just shooting everyone left and right at this point?
Paranoia is a hell of a drug, ayo! :story:

A sadly predictable outcome. Apparently guys hiding in the woods trying to ambush an armored column, got spotted on thermals and annihilated.

Unless you're a Taliban member ready to go to your 72 virgins in the sky at a moment's notice, there's zero sense in doing this sort of shit.
Slavs grow up on stories about irregulars hiding in the woods. The French would do the same in a similar situation because La Résistance. I unironically believe they would have a little more chance in the countryside against Russian soldiers without armor or air support if they would've built bunkers every fucking where back in the day. Like Enver Hoxha's little hellhole did.

So I've been mocking russia but to be serious for a moment what are the odds of covert on the ground involvement from nato countries?? This seems like it was too perfectly set up to humiliated Russia and have us gain favor off picking off the former enpires corpse, something like pre public US fighting in Vietnam or foreign grown irregular troops trained to greater numbers and degrees than publicly known? Have a hard time believing Ukraine just happened to stall Russia like this itself
