these are very close to Ukrainian numbers pre and post 2014 russian invasion and Crimea annexation. I believe it was 20% before, 63% after
I warned that Russia’s grand prize would be Finns in NATO. Worried about nukes in Ukraine? Try nukes five seconds away from Petrograd.

These are the same people who told lawmakers there were totally WMDs in Iraq. Again I really don't want to carry Vodka for Ivan, but these assclowns are utterly unreliable and untrustworthy, especially after the last 2 years of Kung Flu bullshit.
I trust their assessment on this one. After all, if the US aren't the premiere experts in losing a war to a bunch of civvies armed with AKs, then who can we trust?

I still don't see Finland joining NATO, yet. The government holds the opinion of military officials in high regard and the official stance of the military is that "every country, in principle, should take care of its own national defence." This has been unchanged.

Although, if there ever was a time and will to join NATO. it is right now. It just has to be done quickly enough that the Russians are not able together forces on the Finnish border to put pressure on the government. Currently, a significant portion of Russian troops that are generally garrisoned at the Finnish border in the Leningrad area have been pulled into Ukraine.
They'll have to let go of any claims they have on Russia.

Finland let go of those in 1944.

Any information to the contrary is false.

Edit: There was a time in the 1990s when Finland might have been able to diplomatically regain the lost territories, but the massive financial crisis at the time and the massive expenses in rebuilding these regions after decades of degradation under Soviet rule would have been too much.

The Republic of Karelia is still one of the poorest regions of Russia. Viborg is not the gem of the Isthmus that it once used to be. I don't see any economic benefit to Finland from claiming any of these territories in AD2022. The government and all rational people know this.

There are also no longer any significant amount of "brother people" living in these regions. The cultural genocide of Ingrians and Karelians under Soviet rule was already practically complete in the 80s. Only a small amount of these people live in these regions and most of them consider themselves first as Russians and second as "Finnic".
