Half of the problem with the M16 series was cracked in the late 80's.

No shit, it was the fucking ammo. They'd tested with one company, demanded a certain type of powder for Vietnam for the ammo, and then never looked again, trying to fix the fucking problem with carbon buildup.

It turned out to be the ammo and in late 1988 they replaced almost ALL of the 5.56mm NATO rounds in the US storage facilities and sent all the old stuff Condition-H to the fucking National Guard and the training units.

Jamming stopped. Blowbacks stopped.

The whole time, it was the fucking ammo.

Is that why the M193 was replaced by M855 green tips and now iirc they use the M855A1.

There was a bit more to it than that. They switched to the m855 to deal with the mostly non existent threat of soviet body armor. There's also some spergy shit with twist rates and bullet tumble.

He means that Russia is willing to absorb a great cost precisely because Ukraine means a lot to it and very little to the West. If the West loses Ukraine it loses a proxy against Russia on its very border that it had for 8 years. Big deal, they still have all their other post-Cold War I proxies. If Russia loses Ukraine it loses a core Russian territory in its backyard that it's had for hundreds of years.

I'm really curious as to Putins long term plans for Russia. Like do they extend past his death, does he have a chosen successor to carry out his plans, and how much does he care about Russian greatness vs personal greatness?

You worded it wrong. It would have been better invested in NIGGERS. If Russia had taken in NIGGERS and TRANSSEXUALS, it could have done well. Now it has indeed condemned itself. It will have to face the wrath of... the diplomatic condemnations of white women and impotent men in charge of Western countries.

Or, at worst, armies that have lost to just about any Third World people at this point.

On a serious note, Chechen forces are actually very high quality, to the point they even set up Russia's special forces university due to the fact they've been in combat constantly for over 30 years and they're the only OMON unit that is specialized in mountain warfare.
