Because Zelensky and his handlers believe that if enough Ukrainians are thrown into the meatgrinder the assorted atrocity propaganda will make those in power in the West engage in nuclear war on their behalf. Even if that fails, the losses will weaken Russia and be able to be spun for local consumption to justify more focus on the military and to shut down domestic dissenters.

The goal here is to pull a Winter War 3: Revengeance. Make the Russians pay so dearly for every last inch of Ukraine so that when they're done the Russians wonder why they bothered in the first place. A possibly apocryphal quote from after the Soviets took Karelia -- "We have won just about enough ground to bury our dead."

With all that blood that was spilled in past, between us (Russians), Poles and Germans, that'll be a fucking time to cease any beefs and just shake hands, stop conflicts between each other and concentrate the attention on improving Eurasia in spite of U.S.

Look the "rules" of war are written so you pretty much can't conduct a war without breaking them. Both sides in every conflict regularly do. It's so they can always prosecute whoever is the designated bad guy after the fact. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

This isn't a sport, people don't get sent off, shouting "war crime" isn't going to remove any enemy units from the field. Just get on with the war and the international tribunal lawyers can work out the rest of that shit after the action is done.

Proof? I mean thats a bold claim. It's one thing not to be able to leave the country its another to not be allowed to surrender when bested. I would like to see Proof of that claim please.

I have no proofs but I've heard similar rumors. My understanding, assuming rumors are true, is that if you're a male and you try to avoid a fight with the Russians, you'll be dealt with by your comrades.

Didn't the Kherson or Kharkhov mayor accidentally mention being unable to surrender due to some higher up order? Very difficult to keep up with everything.
