I respect all of that and can say up front you probably have access to information channels I'm not privy to. However this:

Reads like very weird analysis due to your knowledge of Russian history. You know how badly the first Chechnyan war went when Russia mimicked the US doctrine of shock and awe and stormed cities as quickly as possible. They got surrounded and got wiped out. Based on that they updated their doctrine and we saw that in how effective they were in the third Chechnyan war where there goal was to siege a city and wait for them to surrender.

If you have current information that I don't that says otherwise so be it, but the claims of "piss poor planning" and them not "taking" Kiev and Kharkov on day 2 or 3 have to be based from a US based doctrine and not a Russian doctrine which looks to be based around attrition and squeezing someone out. I don't see, based on the public information available, any reason to think Russia thought they were going to storm these guys and be over in a day or two.

Again if you have info I don't fair play. I like you(what you post on here) and my post really wasn't directed at you personally.

from what i know, m4/AR rifles are indeed more accurate than AK rifles, but the difference is very small, so small that it is completely irrelevant in practice because these rifle types aren't used for precision shots at targets half a mile away anyway, and at typical engagement ranges for assault rifles they both perform just fine

The USSR made a ton of changes to the AK pattern rifle after observing how effective the M16 was in Vietnam. About the only significant practical difference between AK-74 variants and M4 variants is the Russian gun's ergonomics aren't as good. But that's just not going to be a huge difference-maker in warfare. "Everything equal except our rifles" only happens in video games. Russia's problem vs the USA is it can't afford to distribute modern electronics to every infantryman, and those are a huge practical difference-maker. We can put $1000+ of toys on every rifle, and Russia can't.

Ukraine is a shithole though, their GDP per capita is comparable to non-oil rich MENA countries like Egypt or Syria (before going arse over tit), and they are even more corrupt than the average Middle Eastern shithole.
There is nothing worth starting a limited military operation there for NATO, much less a world war/Nuclear exchange, and all the moralfagging is reddit-tier.

I wish someone would make a comprehensive list of every Western ruling class member who makes money from Ukraine bribes, and how much they make.

To be honest I played it multiplayer heavily modded and with custom missions. Space Iranians and Earthquake Machines didn't really do it for me.
This was back long ago enough that the Donbas was just some nothing happening instead of the precursor to all this shit so we even larped that shit in game. I doubt anybody back then would have predicted this shit storm.
