So I watched the Lazerpig vid someone posted about his copium disguised as analysis and here are my brief thoughts

1. He uses a map from day fucking 1/2 about how the Russians are supposed stuck TODAY and only advanced on Kiev from one direction when the has been surrounded and choked off from the outside world for several days now

2. He compares Russia's initial strikes of cruise missiles and airpower, when you are talking about a number of aircraft that is an order of magnitude larger then the roughly 300 combat planes Russia had in the area. He also ignored that with the exception of Power plants and civilian used infrustructure the Russians did do exactly what he said the Gulf War campaign did.

Just like the Coalition, they hit Radar Stations and Airfields first, then comm stations and communication lines and grounded whatever remained of the Ukrainian air force for days. The UAF was so non-existent that one of the UAFs only flying plane on day 2 was shot down by Kiev's own air defenses, they ASSUMED it was Russian. That's how dominant Russian air power over Ukraine is.

3. He seems to 100% believe Ukrainian casualty numbers in the video without question, including and most importantly (to his channel, which is about tanks) tanks and armored vehicles be destroyed. This isn't even worth discussing.

4. In the comments, people are saying that the Russian MBT's not being able to take direct hits from modern AT weapons means they are junk..............ok, so just like the Merkava Tanks taken out by Russian Kornet Missiles in Lebanon in 2006? Or American and American supplied Abrams tanks blown up by IED's or taken out by modern AT weapons in Iraq, Yemen and the Sinai?

No Tank save the Challenger II can survive a hit from modern ATGM's, this has been proven over and over again. American supplied Abrams tanks have been blown up just as easily by Yemeni and Iraqi Militia armed with similar weapons.

TL;DR Its copium.

Russia has a lot of very good kesseling opportunities from that breakout past Mikolaiv in the centre south

As some recent posts pointed out, this heated rhetoric could lead to horrible results. I mentioned a Russian restaurant that was vandalized in DC a couple of days ago but that may be the tip of the iceberg. Little old Russian grandfathers and grandmothers could be assaulted in the cities much like elderly Asians have been in the last years. Hell, some nut could look up Russian Orthodox churches close to them and pull a Christchurch scenario. The worst part is those who are fanning the flames of this hostility, the media, won't tone it down and then lecture the rest of us about division when a tragedy occurs. Maybe any victim of anti-Russian hate should join Kenosha Kyle's Media Accountability Project.

No kidding, in Lithuania someone already kicked the shit out of a Russian diplomat on last Thursday evening. Although our politicians (even the ones prone to sperging) are actually attempting to calm everyone down towards ethnic Russians, mainly, because a lot of dissidents from Russia and Belarus are actually taking refuge here.

Any map that shows HOI4 lines is bullshit, Russia has control of the major roads and the outlying areas of them, that's it.
Ukraine will turn into another Afghanistan for the Russians, it's basically impossible to defend but that means it's also basically impossible to garrison and keep supply lines outside of major ones secured.

Just look at the Insurgent Ukrainian Army that was a thorn in the Soviet's side for over a decade, which had a lot less public support than the one that will inevitably pop up.

I think what really fucked this situation for me was it becoming a partisan issue. Republicans are apparently pro-Russian now. It got me thinking a bit more than the sperging about Russia being huwite saviors.

it's a good thing. The real threat to America is China and turning Russia against them creates such a threat to the Chinese homeland that they will be severely constrained in sending resources into foreign influence and adventures. If you can cozy up to the Saudis and Pinochet Putin's Russia should be relatively easy, but between reflexive cold war thinking and Ukraine succesfully becoming the retirement fund for a lot of corrupt Western elites America has acted against its own broader strategic interests.

I have read something about Beau giving/recommending light sentences for pedos. I couldn't really verify it, so I assume it was probably spin. By all accounts Beau was a decent person, and it makes the fact Hunter fucked his wife while he was dying from cancer and by some accounts molested his daughter (the same daughter, I THINK, that her diary was stolen and claims of Grandpa Joe diddlign her in the shower) really makes it ring hollow when Joe tries to stand on his dead son's grave to get a bit of sympathy. I get the feeling Hunter is the way he is because of seeing his sister and mom die in a car wreck, and the fact that his dad is disgusted by him. Not giving excuses, but family shit like that can and will fuck your brain up. Hunter is a fuckup, and his brother and sister are dead. Many such cases.

I don't know what concessions Putin could have tard wrangled out of Biden and the EU if he had sat down to negotiate, but they surely would have been more beneficial than what Russia is getting out of Ukraine now and will be getting out of the West for a long time.

Amtrak in CA sucks canal water. In 16 took train from Salinas to Los Angeles. In Santa Barbara train ran over someone and killed them. About three hours to deal with that. The train people were hawking tickets to a wine tasting, for God's sake. Later we heard over the train intercom that one of the female conductors was sitting in an empty roomette, crying. Jesus. Then the train literally crawled the rest of the way to LA. Got in at 3 a.m. vice the planned 9 p.m. When the train finally got to the station the conductors and crew got the fuck off ASAP and turned off the lights, leaving us passengers to use outside lighting and phone flashlights to see our way out. They wouldn't even put the little step out to help people depart. We helped each other off the fucking train.

And don't even THINK of taking Amtrak if you need to make a connection somewhere. The last time I rode Amtrak was in the fall of 19, from Santa Barbara to Salinas. Got me a little roomette, just for shits and grins. Not bad. Dinner was included. Pretty good. Since I had no connection to worry about, train being late made no difference, just called wife when we were getting close to Salinas.

When I was a little girl, I told my father I really wanted to ride the train, like in the movies, I must have been around five. So because my dad loved me and actually enjoyed making me happy he indulged me. First we had to drive to Oakland from SF, because there is no Amtrak rail in SF; a bus took you to Oakland. We got on and rode to San Jose and got off to walk around to buy ice cream and candy (because I was five lol). Then I remember we waited over an hour for the return to Oakland. That is the extent of my travel by rail in California, a place I grew up in and didn't leave until I was in my late 20s.

In NYC where I live now we have six rail systems; Metro North, NYC Subway, PATH, LIRR, NJ Transit Rail and Amtrak and I have used them all and each varies in service and efficiency (NJ Transit rail is the best imo). The Amtrak Northeast Corridor is maintained only because DC politicians and workers use it to commute back home and Tri-State area rail is maintained only because NYC would be a 24 hour parking lot if it didn't exist.
