The main contributions of India since the 90s has ever been their service industry (those pajeet IT support were a meme for a reason), and them being a voracious and growing consumer market. They may not export much, but that doesn't mean they aren't a big player. Quantity, in this case, as a quality all of its own.

That said, I agree any US sanctions is going to be symbolic. I can't even name a single thing that India produces that would interest the greater US.

There are definetly other options then Russian Gas. Germany mostly imported Russian gas since it's cheap and convenient but now they need an alternative when the gas comes from "Nazis".

They are already fireing people in Germany just because they are Russians (No joke). They will go all-in and import gas from America or go back to nuclear power. There is technically also Turkmenistan who has a lot of gas reserves and they hate Russia but not sure how this will play out.
