Like it or not, there is plenty of reason. A large part of Ukraine gets its electricity from this plant, if the Ukrainians just allowed Putin's boys to walk in they would probably have shut it down. Now it looks like it's going to get shut down in much more dramatic fashion.

I mean, you're forced to. You can't just abandon a position just because staying there carries risks. If the Ukrainians allow the Russians to capture a vital position and piece of infrastructure without any opposition it's a major setback. They would be giving Russia the controls to the breaker box to all of Ukraine. If it's that hazardous the Russians can just as well go around. But I think we can all agree that you don't just ignore the largest power plant in a nation being invaded.
