Sam Hyde

There’s a livestream going on with Tucker Carlson on FOX News giving updates on the Ukraine/Russia fallout and this just happened:

Unfortunately, I’ll have to pull a “trust me bro” on this one because the livestream is still ongoing, but this is one of those moments where I wish I was not joking.

Tucker managed to introduce his older audience to Sam Hyde and it’s just going to get even more hilarious from here on out.

And to think Sam Hyde said he'd never be on mainstream television ever again lol

I'm seeing a lot of Sam Hyde content being suggested on YouTube lately. Has Ian's attempted hit piece brought him some new mainstream popularity? Or has the algorithm pegged me as a far-right extremist?..
Being namedropped by Tucker as a"comedian" and going on a podcast with Nick Mullen may imply Sam's controversies are dying down. Maybe people have stopped caring as much as they did in 2016 with this stuff. Trump isn't president anymore either so comedians who seem that way inclined are not being hounded as much. All we need now is Sam to spend $100,000 to get on Rogan and he'll be all set.

Thing is, I would not be complacent if that were the case. If anything, seeing the amount of Sam Hyde videos pushed in front of me after that situation has also seen a lot of “reactors“ trying to deconstruct Sam Hyde’s humor in the most overly complex and long form storytelling that I’ve seen in recent memory.

Putting it short: it’s not because they like Hyde again; it’s trying to make more people sound too morally superior on what kind of Hyde’s humor is acceptable to mainstream society.

I think it also works to his advantage that most of his post World Peace stuff is pay-walled. The people who like him will see the content and the people who hate him are much less likely to than when he had a larger presence on Youtube.

"The next real literary "rebels" in this country might well emerge as some weird bunch of anti-rebels, born oglers who dare somehow to back away from ironic watching, who have the childish gall actually to endorse and instantiate single-entendre principles. Who treat of plain old untrendy human troubles and emotions in U.S. life with reverence and conviction. Who eschew self-consciousness and hip fatigue. These anti-rebels would be outdated, of course, before they even started. Dead on the page. Too sincere. Clearly repressed. Backward, quaint, naive, anachronistic. Maybe that'll be the point. Maybe that's why they'll be the next real rebels. Real rebels, as far as I can see, risk disapproval. The old postmodern insurgents risked the gasp and squeal: shock, disgust, outrage, censorship, accusations of socialism, anarchism, nihilism. Today's risks are different. The new rebels might be artists willing to risk the yawn, the rolled eyes, the cool smile, the nudged ribs, the parody of gifted ironists, the "Oh how banal". To risk accusations of sentimentality, melodrama. Of overcredulity. Of softness. Of willingness to be suckered by a world of lurkers and starers who fear gaze and ridicule above imprisonment without law. Who knows."

- David Foster Wallace

Sam had an Instagram story of him in a studio with Mullen. Same with Nick. Sorry I didn't screen grab I figured a committed kiwi would have.
