My guess is that for a lot of Russians a Russia without Ukraine or the other Ex-Russian-Empire/Ex-Soviet States isn't a real Russia. Imagine if Taiwan wasn't an Island but instead directly attached to mainland China, because if that was the case China would've also been way more aggressive towards it.

To use? Probably insane. To remind (in the form of a threat) others that it's on the table when you've expressed about nukes being moved closer to your border makes more sense though. While excessive and heavy handed, I do understand the rationale when, regardless of how one feels about all of this, it's hard to deny that western powers do not take "No" as an answer.

These denazification stories are clearly a shoddy recycling of Soviet propaganda, probably aimed at the Russian public. Although there are indeed some so-called national socialist elements in Ukraine, which have been subsidised and tolerated by the Jews for years.

Apart from that, everyone can see that on the one hand NATO is continuing its hostile expansion, and on the other hand the conflict between the authorities in Kiev and the Russians in the east of the country (this is beyond "pro-Russian separatism", these people are simply Russians) had been brewing for years and threatened to escalate again. These stories have been somewhat buried in recent days, but it seems that Ukraine had undertaken a fairly intensive bombing campaign in the Donbas shortly before the Russian offensive. Russia then recognised the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, which led to the suspension of Nord Stream 2 by Germany, something it had been reluctant to do for years despite US pressure and as the project finally came to an end, with consequences that will certainly be more damaging to the Europeans than the Russians in the foreseeable future.

But I am not one of the decision-makers, I'm just a paid Russian bot, so I can only speculate.

In any case, I pray religiously and daily that London, Paris and New York will be razed to the ground. I struggle to see where the madness is in this idea.
