Poor maintenance most likely. The equipment was not ready for sustained operations and is literally falling apart. Also Stinger STRONK. You would think after Afghanistan the Russkies would have worked on a way to counter the damn thing. Apparently not.
That's what the KA-52 Alligator was supposed to be, and to its credit, the ones we've seen shot down haven't generally been catching fire and exploding like the Hinds.

Totally believable propaganda:

The counter is Flare/Chaff. I'm thinking this is the work of S-300s or captured Russian equipment actually being organized into a decent ADA battery.
From what we've seen, they only start popping flares after someone gets hit. It seems that Russian aircraft have minimal capability to detect an incoming missile before they take it up the tailpipe.

I presume Stingers undergone the same updates as the Javelins did, so gut feeling is that the new countermeasures are what they're falling flat against now.
This is why I think Russia is weary on sending in too many aircraft into SAM zones because it would suck for a $15k-20$k missile system used by infantry to blow up a multi-million dollar aircraft and then they also lose a pilot on top of it most of the time. Captured pilots are probably good bargaining chips.

Just spitballin' and speculatin' -

What if provoking Russia to war was the point?

I don't really know why this would be their goal, but maybe this is what they wanted.
There is a case to be made that the west possibly baited Russia into this specifically because now was when everyone could align their policies to best make Russia an international pariah. Spring is coming in Europe so less gas demand, China is now going from lockdown to lockdown with little interest in engagement abroad in the near future, and the US political establishment wants an excuse to crush anti-fracking sentiment at home in order to keep gas prices low...

That or Russia just miscalculated and didn't think everyone would actually stand on the same side. Who knows?

Bald and Bankrupt is a British youtuber who spends his time going around shitholes, mostly Soviet shitholes. He speaks Russian and has a huge love of everything Soviet so he has a lot of content that is either directly or tangentially related to what we're seeing here. He has a lot of Ukraine content where he wanders around trying to find things to see and chats to locals, getting some interesting insights.

Many of you will have seen his stuff already, but for those who haven't here are a few choice vids of his related to conflict in Ukraine...

Here he is wandering around Ukraine the day before the invasion, asking people if they think they are going to be invaded. The answers may surprise you.

Here he is living the whole refugee experience as he tries to get out of post-invasion Ukraine.

Here he is a year ago visiting battle sites from the Dombass conflict and talking to the civilians there.

There are many more but I don't want to shit up the thread too much. If you want to see more you should rate this post informative or your mother will die in her sleep tonight.
that guy is larping, hes only there to fuck vulnerable ukr/rus women/girls. He got a 100 percent 4chan degenerate mindset.
He got doxed and you can see if you read the info that his whole persona is fake. Its been a while since I researched it buts its quite disturbing when you read his forum post that he made in the past before becoming successful as a youtuber. Hes not a total psychopath but i'd say quite near it.
