I think this is what keeps a lot of us in the vortex. It might not have been what got us sucked in, in the first place, but it is a major factor in fostering such a large and diverse "hate focused group".

Sidenote: I think this obsession with being "real Italian!" is definitely an east coast thing because growing up on the west coast I knew no one who larped as some kind of European ethnicity while being born in the USA. White kids just identitfied with being white and there were no people I knew who tried to claim to be [insert European ethnicity]-American authentic and robust!

Oh this struck a nerve really hard. The way he acted and would not let it go, you could clearly both see and hear that this made him angry and hurt.

The fact that he was being called out for both being boring and "cheating" combined with low "support" hit his fragile ego hard.

As @Surly Muppet said earlier in the thread. Phil has been banking hard on ER "saving the stream" and being the vehicle for milking the wheelchairs for the next months, and if the game has run out of steam after only a week with no new "stream saving" game in sight for the foreseeable future Phil might be a bit stressed.

Well to be fair that halberd was blind pig luck. But I think it has made him realize that the key to these games is to baby mode shit and just find the easiest early weapon to exploit. Which is why he bashed his head on that Tree Sentinel wall forever.

I told my pals last night, when we were talking about playing these games blind, that I look up fun early weapons and then play the rest blind. Because I don't have much fun on these games just running a fucking sword and plinking away at early bosses. But I also made no sort of pretenses otherwise

ONE thing I would give him a pass on is the over leveling things in ER, it has the same problem a lot of open-world games have. Lack of level scaling, while its great it's open world and you can do what every you want in what order there's also a set path through the game dictated by level. Witcher 3 had the same issue just compounded with how op crafting was at first.

but that one thing gets snatched away with how he's actively avoiding a challenge and going for over leveled content while bragging about how good he is at the game.

his dads last name is Burnell, which as far as i can tell is a British surname.
so where does Poland come into it.

I genuinely think Phil thought Elden Ring would be a reboot to his streaming career. He really thought people would turn up to watch him die and when they realised he was a Chad soulsborne demigod ( who totally doesn't read guides) they would have no choice but to acknowledge his redemption arc and his stream would blow up.

Fred had a vendetta against anyone that was monetized at the time, believing that nobody should profit off of Phil. They ran her down hard, resulting in Ardnas going dark.
Shortly after that, Snort Burnell began posting and gained a lot of popularity after the SoK was defunct.

I think another clue was that English was not Ardnas' first language, and Snort Burnell often has apparent typos/phrasing that indicate it may not be their first language either, adding some extra evidence.
