Last time the 101st dropped was 2003 in northern Iraq, which was lightly defended thanks to a large Kurdish population, 12 years of sanctions, and SEAD strikes.

This has basically been a Zerg Rush. But the Russian military is set up for zerging. If America was suffering these kinds of losses, it'd be a unfathomable disaster. But Russian doctrine allows for more losses, so tactically they are not performing optimally, but not losing either.
