I would argue that information on modern wars seems even worse. Due to the constant influx of information on social media, it is difficult to distinguish factual information from misinformation. Consequently, it’s easier to spread misinformation intentionally and unintentionally. It is also difficult to determine the sequence of events of all the information from the battle field.It will be pretty interesting to get the clear picture in hindsight. I wouldn't be shocked at all if after this we hear wild shit like casualties were five times as high as being reported for both sides. People kept talking about how a modern war would be full of information but it's turning out to be as cloudy as ever.
However, the benefit of modern warfare is that the average person can record on the battlefield. So, it is even more difficult for governments to conceal any atrocities that they committed during war. Additionally, you no longer have to wait years after events for information on certain atrocities to leak or be declassified.
