An effort was made to evacuate civilians from Mariople but Russia started shelling the main highway and the evacuation was scrapped. The Black Sea Fleet is hovering menacingly off the coast of Odessa with the cities residents building sand bag positions on the street and beach. Russia has "control" of Kherson, but really what this means is that the Ukrainian military is not present. The local government is still nominally in charge and is refusing to cooperate with the occupiers. Kiev's outer suburbs are under heavy assault, and the Russian Army is having serious issues trying to surround the city due to the fact the Steppe turns into a mire at this time of years.
