Because 'Our Democracy' is a nothing word meant for literal Nigger Cattle to eat up. Our Democracy for your average pleb means free speech, civil rights, etc. stuff that people do care about. We never say 'our democracy' however, it is a think tank phrase for the elites.

Anytime someone like Pelosi or Biden or some super wealthy person or a newscaster says that word, remind yourself that what they actually mean is a system to enrich themselves and their buddies while fucking over the common people, i.e. exactly what Ukraine is. Every nation or company lives and dies based on how much very powerful people can squeeze out of it, if we had no interests in Ukraine you can bet this would be some sideshow like the dozens of African rebellions going on.

"Our Democracy" simply means "Oligarchy with democractic trappings."

The last 5 years have really illustrated to me the meaning of the saying, "history is a lie agreed upon."

Yeah it's certainly made me question a lot of what I was taught and it "common knowledge" about my own country's history. Particularly around the deeds or even existence of some of our heroic figures.

I believe it was one of the end games of the jab and the vaxx pass: government can now pin point who the troublemakers are, then mandate a new jab to”protect the population” and give the dissidents the kill shot lot. No insurgency, no urban fighting. Clean, easy. Entirely without incident.

If it makes you feel any better, even historians constantly debate causes to events and the events themselves. Historians are still debating what event really triggered the French Revolution. A lot of history is based on interpretation of what is available, though I will say that I wish history classes growing up were more like what I’m doing now. In higher level courses, it’s more based on your argumentative skills rather than remembering certain dates and people (since you’re already expected to know those from the reading).

It's been dying for years and at this point I'm of the opinion that it has to get a lot worse before it will get better. Like catastrophically worse. We are the unlucky generation that is going over the cliff with a dying empire. We're the Roman citizens watching the goths get closer all while being told how amazing Rome used to be. It might linger on until after our deaths but it's going under and until it does the process of trying to pick ourselves up and build something better.
