From earlier in the thread, captured Russians allegedly said that before the invasion kicked off, they all had their phones confiscated. If true, that would go a long way towards explaining why we are seeing barely anything from the Russian side - they don't have convenient ways to share their side of it at the moment.
Ah, there you have it. That's honestly much more plausible and practical than officers enforcing opsec discipline on their soldiers. However, now I'm beginning to think the Ukrainian videos of captured Russian soldiers calling their family is much more real now, considering they didn't have any way to contact their family back home. That's going to be bad for morale

That would also help with the OPSEC angle for sure, no retards snapping pics for mother back home.

C.S. Lewis described this mentality astutely in his epilogue to The Screwtape Letters, called "Screwtape Proposes a Toast".

In it, Screwtape exhorts his fellow demons to encourage "Democracy", not as its actual meaning of "popular sovereignty", but as a feel-good buzzword and thought-terminating cliche.

For example, "smart children shouldn't be able to excel, that would be 'undemocratic'!"
Its too bad he's known for his Narnia books. they're dogshit. its like judging Norton on his stand up when his radio bits were top tier. same with Patrice and Giraldo.
The problem with globohomo dying is that, dystopian as it is, the competing alternative ideologies are even worse.
all people are asking for is the kikes to rewind the tape, since they won't we'll have to take one of the other bullshit ideologies instead. We want to go back to the days of at least Jauwanna Mann, but the 6 million won't let us. and therefore proves that this entire ideology is bullshit and should be destroyed.

Something that sorta bums me out is the lack of videos showing dead Ukrainian soldiers on Russian telegrams.

That's not to say that I'm a staunch pro-Rus guy; it's just to say that if there's very little videos about that, it means that there's no concrete proof of deaths on the Ukie side.

I realize that Russian soldiers don't usually post media like that because they're on the winning side, and so they have nothing to prove. Also, to do such things would mean giving away their positions, so when they take photos of the dead, they stick to taking photos of those that they killed in the rural areas outside a city, which are usually generic environments that are hard to geolocate, kind of like taking a selfie in front of a white wall so you don't get doxed easily. The same thing goes when Russians want to take pics of destroyed or captured Ukie vehicles.

The only video of dead Ukie soldiers that I posted was taken by other Ukie soldiers. Speaking of Ukies, they're obviously very fond of taking or posting videos and photos of dead Russians and their destroyed/captured convoys. Just go on pro-Ukrainian Twitters like @666_mancer, @worldonalert and others, and you'll see what I mean.

If you ask me why I think Ukies post more vids like this, it's probably because generating the perception that they're winning the war matters much more than keeping their positions completely secret. If they can generate this kind of perception, it's much easier for the Zelensky's International Legion to get foreign volunteers.

So, if you happen to see an account that posts dead Ukie soldiers, let me know. I've scoured through lots of Rus telegram accounts and I couldn't find anything significant. This basically leaves the count of Ukrainian army casualties up to my imagination, and as of now, I think they're in deep trouble.

Videos of dead soldiers are the most concrete forms of proof for casualties in a war. You can fake being an enemy soldier and getting captured. You can't fake lying on the floor with your limbs awkwardly bent, blood dripping from your temple and your guts hanging out.
I think a lot of these are not recorded by soldiers. You generally dont want your guys fucking around on snapchat while at war.
Ukie civvies (the ones recording shit with their smartphone with little to no regard for what "ammo-cook-off" means.) are doing a lot of the filming and are obviously going to focus more on dabbing on dead russians than their own soldiers.
Rus civvies (who would also focus on dead enemies) are in Russia, so i doubt we will see a lot of dead Ukies unless the Wunderwaffen division of the UKR army can whip up a counter-attack.
Especially since the ukies are also as paranoid as one can be and posting "look at our dead soldiers, this is awful" is a great way to become a "saboteur" there right now.

The war has been going on for just over a week, and Putin's not gone balls to the wall on this yet. I don't subscribe to this Russins are bad aspect when we have a lot of fog of war, and unrealistic expecations like the failure to take Kiev in 2 days is an utter shambles.
Not that it matters but a lot of "military historians, experts, ect."(Victor Davis Hanson as an example) have begun commenting publicly on Putin not sending his "A" team in and also not putting the pedal to the medal at the start of this.

Why not send his A team? He needs it ready for NATO and he can hide their actual power level so to speak.

Why not go pedal to the medal from the beginning? Maybe he's not actually trying to take over the Ukraine afterall like he said at the beginning. Also, he forced the West to show their hand not only to Russia but the world. The West's response will drive the rest of the world to separate themselves from the West's financial system which weakens the West.

I think a few people analyzing the battle going on in Ukraine are missing the strategic layer going on worldwide.

While people are talking about the VDV, it's good to understand the absolute magnitude of their fuckup near Mykolaiv.

I don't think these guys were airdropped. At least there is no clear indication that they were. It's more likely that the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment, the unit that these guys belonged to, launched a ground attack and was repulsed. They also had towed artillery supporting them, which implies a ground operation.

When it comes to the extent of their failure, I'll let images talk for themselves. I know a lot of these are already posted, but not necessarily in the correct context. Everything after this point is NSFW:

The aftermath of the failed attack on Mykolaiv. Note the way the BDM-2s are spread out on a field. These guys were not just ambushed on the road.

The same cameraman filming the destroyed artillery supporting the attack. No idea what destroyed these guys, possibly drones.

The dead guys are VDV, as identified by the blue-white striped shirts. This is filmed after the Ukrainians retrieved the bodies.

The way when know who these guys are is due to a large number of documents and equipment left behind. This is a small fraction of the images the Ukrainians are spreading around. Note the Telnyashka.

Russian sources also confirm that the commander of the Regiment, Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky, was killed in the fighting:

In addition, we the Ukrainians captured several prisoners that they're showing around.

The last guy is the one there is a video of being dragged around by the Ukrainians. He was identified as VDV.

Also, the Commander of the 7th Guard Mountain Air Assault Division (the unit the 247th is a part of) and Deputy Commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army, Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky, was killed previously. This was confirmed by Russian media.

Here is an article about it by Pravda.ru (the non-communist Pravda):

Not only has the VDV gotten their guys killed, they even got their commanders killed. I don't think I've ever heard of an operation being screwed up this badly in the west.

What's he gaining from this war? He's already got most of the world against him now, one way or another. If what Putin has sent into Ukraine is his "A" team, then his military is far worse off than anyone could have expected. Been publicly shown that the Russian Army can be stopped and defeated, at least tactically. And it isn't out of the imagination that the Ukes do something in Russia.

Ending the war stops the bleeding on both sides. Ukraine will need a good deal of repair/reconstruction. The Russian economy will need help. Relaxing some sanctions could well happen. But the Mississippi River of bad blood between Ukraine and Russia will still get wider and deeper. The issues will remain. NATO remains and will strengthen.

Best I can do. What do you think would happen if Putin declared victory and left?
The Rubicon has been crossed, c'mon.

A direct war with NATO will devolve into a nuclear exchange within days tops, as soon as one side goes on the retreat (and lets be honest, there's no way in hell Russia can win a conventional war with NATO, Russia isn't the Soviet Union, so it will probably be Putin pressing the big red button) nukes will go flying. NATO and Russia both probably don't even have serious contingency plans for a conventional with each other.

Yeah, I'm aware. Everyone is aware I'm sure. But if Poland acts up or Finland acts up he needs his "A" team to settle that quickly to avert a nuclear situation while getting what he wants.

Edit: This isn't about whether or not his plan would be successful, this is simply going over what his plan could be or looks like based on what we think we are seeing through the fog of war.

I'd say the current situation could maybe be kept conventional, but that would change the second any troops crossed into Russia in any numbers. At that point I think they'd at least use nukes on those troops.

Heard on /pol/ these are whores being paid to bare their tits to the world. I'm not complaining because some have nice pairs but at the same time they are French.

Apparently some other photo from the scene, NSFW obviously.

My thoughts as well, a lot of it looks to be keeping international morale for Ukraine up even though all this shit coming from both sides should be taken with a grain of salt.

I hear you. However, far as I know the long convoy outside Kyiv is still there. Where's the logistics? Why are the Russians apparently impressing civilian trucks into service?

You can tell a lot about a military in their planning and flexibility. This wasn't planned well, especially on the logistical side. The Russians' logistics lines are all interior lines, run trains wherever, in Russia/Belarus/Ukraine. Yet Russian vehicles seem to run out of fuel often, troops having to loot stores to eat. Can't believe nobody had a plan "B" should resistance be unexpectedly stiff. Can't believe paratroopers are apparently being dropped so far away from any chance of timely support. This is why a General Staff exists. Such staffs have planning cells drawing up operational plans, with all annexes, such as communications, logistics, and medical, for any likely contingency.

If Putin hasn't gone all-out already, question if he can anytime soon. I have limited information. Don't know if the initial invasion units have been relieved by fresh units, and for how much longer such rotations can happen. Don't know if reserves are being called up. Getting even the best reserve units ready for combat takes time. Can't wisely pull any other regular troops away from other duties. Need to have some troops in the Far East, and in the Caucasus/Chechnya areas. Gotta have some near the Baltics.

It was Putin who had the unrealistic expectation of taking Kyiv in two days. Saw the same in Korea. Seoul isn't far from the DMZ. When Kyiv and Ukraine didn't immediately knuckle under, Putin seemed to be at a loss.

Can the Russians "brute force" a victory? Given time, most likely. But what do they gain? The sanctions would likely get even worse.
