I'm actually not sure Russia learned anything about their military deficiencies or at least done anything to remedy them. From what I remember reading, the problems they are having now with logistics and communications and small unit tactics, etc, are shit they were dealing with as far back as the first Chechen war (and the second one too, they solved that one by just carpet-bombing the shit out of everything).Georgia taught them a lot of lessons in their tactical deficiencies in terms of comms and fires availability, this one seems to be teaching them about a lot of failure points related to large unit maneouvres & logistics and that yeeting VDV isn't an automatic win button.
Apparently Hostomel counts as a bloody victory per this thread
If they are still making the same mistakes 20+ years on, I think their problems might be beyond some basic restructuring at this point.
