People are saying that sanctions doesn't work, citing places like Cuba, NK, and Iran. The thing is, they managed to survive since they have Russia and China trading with them. Another important thing is that in those places, the elites and the people are controlled using ideology and/or religion, "selfless reasons", let's we call it.

That's standard politician shit, they can change their faces in no time. I used to work for a politician, and he can change his demeanor in very quick succession. In one hour he can be a fatherly figure, in next one a popular people's champion, and the next one making sketchy deal with businesses. And the dude wasn't some weak puppet politician, he actually has power and brain to manuver here and there
