Was gonna say if it’s $6 in the south then California is going to get felted.
No way. Remember, the rest of the country exists to serve their betters in California and New York City. That is to say, expect everything to twist into a pretzel just so Californians and NYC continues to have cheap gas.

Rationing for the rest of us, subsidies paid for by taxpayers for Californian / NYC gas stations, what have you. The bugmen shall not be allowed to suffer.

Rest of us can get fucked, though. We deserve it for voting for our own interests instead of the greater good, after all.

As I drove home this evening I saw multiple gas stations at $3.99 for unleaded. I saw one at $3.89 and decided to top off with what will probably be the last time I see it drop below $4 for the next forever. This has been a recurring theme this week, playing a game of "How much more will it cost at nighttime than it does in the morn?" Every single day. It was $329 last Monday.
I get that, and you're right. The thing that unsettles me is the virtue signaling, like @HTTP Error 404 pointed out. There have been invasions and fighting all over the world between countries, and I've never seen so many people take the side they've been "told to" before so quickly. At least in the middle east we were sold the tale that we had to fight to protect oil or to fight terrorists. US citizens have no real vested interest in this battle or war or whatever it is.
I was a child for the initial years of the Middle Eastern Boogaloo but I will say what I have also said before:

People can preach "poor non-whitey" all they want to but most people in actuality care about Europeans more, especially the Average Joe. The Middle East has been at war with itself since time immemorial; it's Biblical. Even if America never stepped foot (militarily, that is) over there, they would still be fighting amongst each other and we would still have terrorism because "the west bad." We'd still be dealing with immigrant families honor killing their daughters cause they wouldn't marry their 50 year old cousin. They would be fighting over Judaism and Middle Eastern Christians and Sunni vs. Shiite and bacha bazi and who is stoning their rape victims properly.

That said it also depends on who is in the White House: Obama frequently bombed Yemeni children but it was ok because he was First Black President.™ Meanwhile Trump felts a terrorist group leader with 0 civilian or soldier causalities and it's LICHERALLY THE START OF WW3!!11!!111!

It's not even about whitey, it's about developed nation vs. third-world shithole. You'd get exactly the same reaction of China, say, invaded South Korea through NK.

War and instability isn't supposed to happen outside of third-world shitholes, so when it does it's kind of a shock to everyone.

It's pushing $4 even in fucking Iowa.
Even for the 10% ethanol blend or whatever they push there that’s just below E-85 and makes my car have worse gas mileage?

I paid $3.94 earlier this week for no ethanol added regular in the prairieland. It has stabilized for a few days here at least. I was expecting to see another jump when I ran errands today.

Edit: Found a photo from the heart of the coof when gas was $1.19.

Take us all out of our misery already. *sigh*

it's shit like this that makes me glad that I'm a city bugman living in a city with a semi functional public transport system. my heart goes out to all my red blooded kiwi niggas
Probably one of the few redeeming qualities of big city living. You'll have to be paying more for that though since the bus and train people will be paying more for fuel. Try not to get shot fren ❤️

We hear the term "first world" and "third world" used a lot, but what about second world? Turns out "second world" was used to describe Soviet countries. I would say that's accurate for modern day Russia - third world LARPing as the first world, though overall better off than most true third world countries. I would feel much safer in Russia than Sudan.

Nigger, there is no such thing as cheap gas in NY or CA.

That's why I use "developed country" vs second-world. Countries like Russia, Ukraine and China definitely aren't first-world, but they're way closer to first-world countries than they are to third-world shitholes. First-world and third-world in general are kind of outdated terms anyways, but they've sorta been grandfathered in in such a way that everyone knows what you mean when you say it.

With the rapid, nationwide trend of increasing gas prices showing no sign of stopping in the near future, I'm now wondering how high gas will have to be before normies (bugmen types) start throwing up their arms and pointing fingers. Maybe $15-20/gal for 87 will be the turning point? Interesting times.
I mostly use Boomerbook for actual networking and snooping, so I rarely actually scroll, but nowadays if I do I don't have to do it very long before I encounter a "ZAMN THESE GAS PRICES" post or meme. Same thing with Instagram. Leftoids ofc are doing major cope/damage control or pointing fingers at righty for "not understanding how gas prices work" (no seriously I saw this earlier).

I figured the leftists would initially blame their political opponents claiming them to be ignorant, but what I'm wondering is at what price for gas when the lefty types will realize that blaming carpenter Rick for high prices isn't the answer.

With all of the attempted economic warfare on Russia, we just might get a second world again.

They aren't blaming the carpenters, they are blaming profiteering corporations. You see we aren't dealing with record inflation and a struggling economy, all the corporation decided to start price gauging at the same time to make Biden look bad.

There's also the George Takei school of "high gas prices are good to own the Russians."

I certainly hope I'm wrong, but I think there's a decent chance we'll see grocery store panic runs reminiscent of early 2020 before the month is out, even if gas prices were to immediately freeze where they're at today (which they won't). The second order effects of spiking energy costs are going to be extremely serious for everybody and things are likely going to get very tense politically because of it. We might get to a point where the only political issue people care about is "what the fuck are you going to do about the fact that I can't afford anything at all anymore?"

And then we will see short term solutions like releasing strategic reserve barrels (nothing strategic is happening economically), borrowing $$$$ to give everyone an economic stimulus check (it won’t cause any stimulation except some random quick spending), eviction moratoriums (won’t prevent eviction, will cause housing price increases) and….. fuck, now I’m a doomer.
