Roleplaying is an art. It's just that like regular art, for every serious and competent artist, there are ten thousand jabbering chimpanzees convinced that they're the next Earnest Hemingway and determined to prove it to you in the most obnoxious way possible. I can vouch for this as both a roleplayer and an artist.

This is a thread about a bunch of former TV Tropes members sperging about the Complete Monster trope, a trope long known for flame wars so vicious some people continue them on the Villains wiki on Wikia. However, since they are homesick for a site about troping as well, most of them drift to the TV Tropes fork All The Tropes (the Wikia version).

GethN7 (who has muckraked against other SJWs mocked in other threads here) runs both the Wikia and non Wikia forks of ATT, and while he edits his sites on occasion, he generally let's them run themselves, only stepping in to establish order or to fix something (by his own admission, he's not more hands on for fear of becoming a Ryulong style dictator).

The thread is about a bunch of butthurt exiles having a really stupid 'TV Tropes sucks because they didn't do things our way" contest that starts going in the Nate Spidgewood "Burn it down!" form of actually doing damage to TV Tropes style daydreaming.

Geth shows up, makes it clear he won't tolerate that shit, and DocColress (a CM sperg who is nonetheless actually fairly levelheaded and this is reflected by Geth having granted DC admin power) bans the offenders for being stupid enough to discuss a desire to do criminal shit in broad daylight.

You can really tell where the fandoms are based on what types of fans run the show, based on how many tropes are named after TGTGW, Doctor Who, Farscape, or anime. It's not always equally based though, the "Chickification" trope actually had The Rush Limbaugh Show as the trope namer....

I was a TVTropes user for a while...never in the forums but certainly wasted time there, and I remember the "cleansing" of Troper Tales (I'm ashamed to admit I started one of the pages), and this Tumblr post explains a more in-depth look at what went on.

That tumblr post has its own axe to grind: it is pretty much "they take away my anime goodies FUCK YOU GOONS!!!!". Weeaboos have always behaved the worst in TVT; bronies and warhammer spergs might be spergier, but no single group have reached the sheer aggressiveness, refusal to comprimise, obnoxious level of rule-lawyering, and readiness to gang up and raise shit (which Fast Eddie was deathly scared about). Weeaboo tropers have a lot of proto-SJW traits, such as unjustified complains about discrimination and the with-us-or-against-us mentality.

This line is particularly telling (italics mine):

Goons also hate animu, not all of them, but definitely a large enough part that this entire thing could take place without anyone stopping to call it stupid. Maybe because they’re normalfags who insist all drawn porn is real porn

This is an argument that I've heard too many times among pedotropers: Oh please someone think about the virtual children!!!

Tropes such as panty shot, zettai ryouiki, token loli, naughty tentacles, etc. You’ll notice a great deal of these come up in animu related things, this is not a coincidence.

Of course it is not: and you can thank weeaboo tropers -- and, ultimately, creaters of anime -- for that.

Needless to say, a bunch of ten post accounts started pointing out anything animu related and a great deal of them got nuked. It wasn’t even consistent, it based solely on whether or not the poster disliked whatever they were suggesting

School Days is fine, YMK isn’t.

Katawa Shoujo is fine, Rance isn’t (Goons hate Rance).

To Love-Ru is fine, Eiken isn’t.

Rosario + Vampire is fine, Kodomo no Jikan (Goons hate this one too)

Dramatical Murder is fine, Hadaka isn’t.

I don't know most of these titles, but Rance is an RPG series that focuses on rape. Kodmo no Jikan is frankly pedophilic. It is with good reason that these are eventually banned on TVT. Good riddance.

The author also suggest that obliterating Troper Tales have forced the fetish material to the forums. This is ridiculous: the "Forum Lust Game" thread had always existed in parallel with Troper Tales. According to ED, it had stood for three years, culminating almost 47000 posts, and growing by 300 daily before the mods discovered and axed it.

And that’s basically how TVT went from being a silly little site with autists to a SUPER SERIOUS site that’s a shadow of it’s former self.

I never said it was unbiased (the anime-based bullshit was cancerous and needed to be trimmed back. "True Companions" really does make more sense as a trope name) though it does bring up some valid points (Fast Eddie's purge of the more-NSFW pages was not for good intentions).

One thing not mentioned in there was that Troper Tales was dialed back before being cut entirely, as they started to close down the more problematic ones like Bound & Gagged, Biggus Dickus, Evil is Sexy, and a bunch of others that was either sympathy-baiting or gross sexual stuff (2011 archive with the "initial cuts")

Better man than me, I actually posted on the forums.

Though luckily for me, I never even touched the more problematic threads. Makes me glad I wasn't missing much in the way of sheer creepiness.

The policies against natter and bashing plus people being fed up with trope names all being anime shit happened were things well before the goons fucked with troper tales and brought Google trouble. The mod team was just shit at enforcing their own policies, just as they were shit at dealing with pedos.

FastEddie mostly wanted an asspatting cult and money. The new owner is a lot better, mostly because he doesn't demand a cult. He still wants to make money, but he's not the massive jackass Eddie was about it. Both have largely the same teams in place to run things though, so it's still a clusterfuck, just one where a whining manbaby who can take no criticism whatsoever is no longer in charge.
