I think you miss the point to all that, people that have power/influence want men to be weak and women to be whores, they want us to hate each other.

Was in ROTC at the time. Had a brother in the 82nd Airborne at the time. Just a fucking mess. As I understand it, overly complex and political, everyone had to have a piece of it. Knew a guy who was briefly a hostage, a black guy I'd served with a few years previously. Some years later met one of the Marines held hostage.
