Frankly I don't think framing this as Russia/Ukraine war is quite accurate. This is essentially a civil war between Ukr government and the Donetsk/Luhansk separatists, where both sides are backed by foreign powers, but only 1 of those foreign powers is interfering directly.

I don't see how this ends other than Ukries getting their shit pushed in, considering they couldn't even beat the separatists when they only had indirect, unofficial assistance from Russia. All the "this is how Ukraine could still win" takes seem like copium.

Unfortunately Zelensky is a muppet who seems more interested in LARPing the brave resistance leader than doing what's best for his people, and is now having a mental breakdown because he couldn't Avengers Assemble the NATO into starting WW3.

Correction because fuck me everyone gets thos damn wrong: they installed Porochenko a west leaning Oligarch (he has / had the biggest producer of chocolate in ukraine and IO think also owned a TV station). Not exactly a great change mind you. Zelensky was voted in2 years ago (I think it was 2 years) because the Ukraine was tired of being ruled by oligarchs and they took the former comedian as a step upwards.

Considering the seemingly worse news for Russia the last couple of days does anyone know why the ruble seems to not be falling further but regaining a bit ground? Is this just short term noise? Or are there economic counter gay ops happening?

Funny shit they forced businesses use Russian ruble for all transactions, both in and out of borders. Basically any country that hasn't yet stopped dealing with Russia needs to buy ruble from Russia first, using dollars euros or their local money, also retards stopped buying dollar enmasse.

Not everyone is convinced by the psyops of the three letter men, anyone can do their own research, and even if someone is convinced by something in the first place that belief can be toppled by any amount of contrary evidence. The sanctions is where your money drain is coming from, those launchers though are all from a military expenditure budget which is there to basically shoot down Russian and Chinese shit if they step out of line. The military budget is separate from the money you would get and has probably been sitting there doing nothing for a decade until now.

If I had to guess? Export economy means there's a hard floor on the ruble's value, sanctions or no. They're not actually isolated the way North Korea is (China, India, and the Gulf petrostates aren't cutting ties, period) so we've got this weird value distortion where all the WEIRD countries don't want to eat lunch with them anymore (though a few will hold their nose and buy their oil, the US included) so you'll see dips and spikes as the commodities market realigns itself.

It's weird how durable your economy can be when it produces things like energy and food, as opposed to usury and porn.
