not sure how much you've been paying attention, but so far into this war the Ukranians aren't exactly what you would call 'at the mercy' of the russians.

They are though. Russia has only mobilized 10-20 percent of its forces. the fact that Russia doesn't want to rule over rubble is the only thing keeping the Ukrainians around.
