They retained them in Russia because the geography of the country makes them somewhat useful. The trains were built during the war scare with China around 1970s. They were originally intended to guard long stretches of railways in Siberia from small raids by the Chinese.

Anyone have any stories of any Ukrainian refugees fleeing to neighboring countries? I have a family member in a nearby country. I was told that some women and children are trickling in, no men though.

I feel so much contempt for the Syrian men who have fled and have left their families behind in a warzone. Everyone says he would do x and y before a war - I myself too - but when a war starts, everyone shows his true colors. However, I do not think I would leave my family behind if I fled a conflict.

If Germany didn't panic after an earthquake and tsunami caused a nuclear disaster in Japan, and shut down all their nuclear energy reactors, which is the easiest way to reliably actually go green. they wouldn't be in this situation.
