A critical piece missing from all the discussion today too is that several US refineries rely on the heavy crude blends Russia supplies - they simply aren't tailored to refine the lighter stuff coming out of shale fracking. It's why those suggestions of reconciling with Venezuela are on the table (similar crude with their oil sands) and why this whole thing pisses me off. You have immediate access to the oil needed via Alberta, a supply which can be ratcheted up faster than praying to OPEC and sucking Saudi cock, and yet here we are watching the adults in charge larp the Ancien Regime and pretend everything is fine.
there is another option. sending the marines to Venezuela to take over the oil supply(and fix the country even if just a little bit).
the brits did this in ww2 to iraq.

The rank and file peasant class climate change cultists certainly fit this description, but I've always wondered if the elites that espouse this shit have any genuine belief in it at all. None of them seem to lead lives of anything other than grotesque excess. John Kerry's private jet usage is widely derided, but they all do shit like that and often own multiple huge estates, fleets of cars, etc.. I don't think they want civilization to collapse totally, but they do seem to want to dramatically restrict access to anything approaching a first world standard of living to everyone other than a tiny handful of people. I'm not sure how they plan on producing or maintaining their luxuries in a world full to the brim with starving filthy plebs living in squalor though.
I don't think there's one universal answer for how the "elites" and wealthy buy into the Climate Emergency stuff. And it's worth saying that there are some aspects of it that matter - we're destroying unique habitat at a horrible rate. English woodland and wetlands are being pushed past the point they could ever recover. But sure - the larger nonsense like running everything from windpower and solar cycles being ignored. How much do they really believe? I guess I'd put them into three broad categories:
  • Affable politicians. These are Boris Johnson types who believe it because they go to Davos and WEF and are surrounded by people telling them it's real. So they believe it. And in this sense it's a real belief. Enhanced with enjoying the praise of other believers (of the other types) around them. I firmly believe that the UK's current climate targets came about purely as a result of Boris Johnson hanging out at some Davos after party and wanting to one-up the other world leaders.
  • Academics. Masters of double think. I've worked with some. I have zero problem thinking that some of these people believe simply because it's in their interests to believe. How is it possible to believe something merely because you want to believe it? I think because some of these people don't actually have belief in the same sense that we do. For a time in Academia, and probably still now, every professor was frantically re-writing their research in order to have some connection to climate change and secure some of that bounteous grant money.
  • The invested. People who are shilling their latest wind power project or otherwise are standing to make big money from it. This is probably a mix of people who genuinely believe it and who are just cynically promoting it to make money. But good luck finding any that would admit it.

The thing you have to understand is that there are people who prey on the powerful just like there are people who prey on those lacking in power. An old granny gets bogus tradesmen knocking at the door trying to get her to pay for an unneeded house improvement or repair. A Prime Minister gets people trying to convince him he needs to allocate the national budget to giant Chinese windmills. But the principle is the same. Don't think the very wealthy aren't targeted for the same reasons - only by different methods.

Now if you want to get conspiratorial, there could be a fourth category which would be those backed by foreign powers seeking to undermine Western energy security and economies. There's also those who perhaps want to use it to increase control over people. I'm sure both exist to an extent. And these ones - these would be your ones who genuinely don't believe. I don't think they're the "mainstream" elite. At least not in the West.

Just my guesswork, take it or leave it.

The "equality" of Harrison Bergeron with twerking instead of ballet.
Ah ha ha ha ha!:lol::lol:

Not that I don't absolutely despise Joe Biden but recent events have shown beyond a reasonable doubt that he's not in charge. Biden is a corporate boomer of the profit before everything variety and the recent actions around oil/energy policy are pure extinction rebellion millennial climate cult shit.

He's a puppet and someone or someones are pulling his strings.

Did the progressive wing in the cabal suddenly gain more power?

I'm sure if we could ever find the financials, you'll see Greta and Extinction Rebellion, and FEMEN, are all funded by the WEF through NGO's.

Who controls the funds of the WEF?

He's always been a puppet, and anytime he isn't, you get the worse takes imaginable.

No, the climate change cult is separate from the progs. There may be a lot of overlap, but even more moderate millennial staffers in the DNC are hardcore climate change doomers. When the DNC was going through the internal backlash to losing in 2016, one of the key things the "insurgent" wing of the party (that backed Keith Ellison as leader) used to rail on the existing leadership clique was that bungling the previous election had guaranteed they would all die in 12 years. These are the rank and file that surround Biden, and it's why he's resorting to begging Venezuela and the Arabs for more oil rather than do anything to improve domestic production.

Really it's no different than throughout human history. The people at the top, with power, the Kings, Queens, and Emperors, some believed themselves superior, and made decisions that killed millions, either directly or indirectly through their incompetence. The only thing that's changed is globalization, so the stakes are higher now.

Give the average person on the street the power to change the course of the world. Think how stupid and misinformed the average person is.

That's exactly who you need in office, someone who just goes "oh well." The words of a man who has never experienced real hardships that weren't of his own doing, because I'm pretty sure the reason his wife drove off and got into a wreck that day was because Joepedo was cheating on her.
Ah yes, those Russians and their control over the Wests retarded energy policy.
