It's the kind of ageing you see on plastic surgery faces. Unnatural wrinkles and stuff held where it doesn't want to be just collapsing in a way real skin needs 101 years to achieve. It's why he looks so weird from the side, too. They can only sculpt for one viewing angle at a time.

Practically speaking, is there any other way out of this oil crisis other than to begin the process of greatly increasing domestic production and refining? I realize that wouldn’t help us today, but it’s looking like severe economic pain in the near future is now unavoidable. Is the federal government even capable of long term planning like that at this point?

The issue is that by the time they call in the engineers, hire all the staff, get the equipment ready, and the bit finally gets going it's been about six months at best. This is notwithstanding any lawsuits that can be filed by whatever tribe, community group, or environmentalists.

Now comes extraction but most of the more easily accessible oil has already been exploited. As such, the use more labor intensive and costly methods.

Here in lies the kicker, if the oil prices drop after Ukraine signs a peace treaty they have taken a loss with the entire set up.

I think that electric cars can play a part but they are limited by income, residence, weather, usage, and range. A wealthy bugmen living in his luxury apartment with a dedicated parking spot with a charger is not that big of an issue.

But then you get a certain Democrat policies that push for mass housing developments to end parking space minimums. So what is the result?

You get apartment complexes that have less parking spaces than they have apartments. Of course, some take public transportation but not enough if you drive around apartments in a metro area. Then you add in the charging aspect and you are fucked. Are they going to build enough charging spaces on the street? Are they going to be operating?

I really don't know and don't have the huberis to pretend I know better for society. All I know if all this shit makes life more complicated.

Absolutely not. The only way to be insulated against foreign shortages is to have domestic production of either those goods or acceptable substitutes. And considering this is oil we're talking about, there are no acceptable substitutes, not yet at least. Personally, both from an economic standpoint of competition and a national security standpoint of having a secondary option, I'd love it if there were oil alternatives. But since absolutely nothing we have right now comes close to the sheer energy density of hydrocarbons to the point we may end up just using nuclear-powered atmospheric carbon conversion at some point, we're stuck them for the foreseeable future.

There are two "versions" of Equality.

Equality of Opportunity is what most people think of when they think of Equality. Everyone should get a fair shot, to pass or fail on their own merits. You shouldn't pick the white guy over the black lesbian, if they can both do the same job. This is a core aspect of Meritocracy, an anti-racist idea that people should succeed or fail on their own merits, a core aspect of American culture, as well as Gaming Culture, Hacking Culture, et cetera.

Equality of Outcome is the Communist version of Equality. If people don't pass or fail at an equal rate, then there must be something that is causing that not to happen, and actions must be taken to resolve this. If there are not an equal or proportionate number of black lesbian CEOs as White Male CEOs, something must be causing the black lesbian CEOs to fail.

The former is Equality. The latter is Equity.

When companies talk about DEI -- Diversity Equity and Inclusion programs -- they are inherently talking about Race, Gender, Sexuality quotas and tokenism. They are specifically talking about punishing Straight White Men because they are willing to sacrifice the things required to succeed whereas gays / women / blacks are not, but still feel entitled to the same success.

Gender Equity means that even though a man works on average 12 more hours a week than a woman and doesn't and instead leaves the workforce for years to have a child, the woman should get the same take home pay as that man.

Race Equity means that even though a white or Asian may have spent their 20s if not 30s getting certifications and degrees and sacrificing their home life for their careers, the black who didn't do that should get the same promotions.

That sort of thing. It's an inherently collectivist, communist idea, a betrayal of American Meritocratic values. There's a reason they worked very, very hard to find a word that sounds pretty close to "equality."

And this is before you start talking about the systemic racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry that the left has embraced. A volleyball team is "diverse" when it's 6 black women with shaved heads from the exact same region of the exact same country. It's literally illegal in California for a company to have 6 white men on a company board.

Equity has been the thing that has poisoned the well in the summer of 2020. And it’s the thing that leftists will aim to use to reach progressive utopia. Fuck.

nope, there is no short term fix, this has been brewing for a while and has finally come to a head. Even if Biden went FULL DRILL AHEAD we wouldn't feel the effects of his actions for a while. I'm not familiar with the process of drilling and extracting oil/oil shale but I imagine we won't get a respite before midterms which is the only thing Dems care for right now so with that in mind you can count of them not increasing domestic production.. With summer coming around its only going to get worse as people will want to travel. There is an almost beautiful irony to it, after 2 years of covid, just before people are able to enjoy freedom of movement they're stopped by massive gas prices.

Almost like TPTB want to keep us "locked down" forever so that they can come and go wherever they please without the filthy plebs ruining everything......

He he is so out of touch he might, and that would be a huge disaster. Because of the chip shortage many dealerships struggle to get inventory and went from having hundreds in stock a month pre-pandemic to like 20-80 in stock a month.

America has lots of extractable oil in places, but we are pretty reserved about exploiting it because of the public's environmental concerns and the government wanting to save it for an emergency. Biden should have reopened the pipeline project and open the box on fuether American oil extraction when the war started. The sanctions on Russia isn't going to end anytime soon and expanding American only not only helps us in the long run but our allies too who are also experiencing fuel shortages.

So now the question becomes what country comes in and tries to take advantage of the oil in the US that Biden isn’t extracting. My money’s on China.

Initially I didn't see too much wrong with the picture outside of his eyes being so bloodshot, you'd think he smoked a bunch of crack before going on camera. However, looking at it longer makes me realize how uncanny it is. The forehead wrinkles, how his nose looks kinda smushed, his weird old-man teeth, etc. Maybe that's because the picture was taken off of someone's tv but it feels so uncanny. The type of uncanny feeling you feel when you get a tiny glimpse of what lies behind the curtain, and you get a really odd and dreadful sensation in the pit of your stomach.

The first thing I noticed was the blurriness, which I guess could be a bad makeup job on the lower half of his face and not enough on the upper half. But then I noticed the polygonal chin, which does have enough imperfections to look natural but still the edges are a little too sharp, like they're using photographic textures of varying quality on a model not meant for close inspection. Conclusion: Andy Serkis is underneath the East Wing covered in little dots.

I've been told a rumor that the Federal Government is freaking out about the gas prices from a prominent source, and is trying to pressure states to have a tax holiday for a few months on the state's sales tax for Gasoline. Take this with a grain of salt since it's only chatter, but I'm starting to believe it more and more each day.

The hilarity is even if certain states do it (which lol good luck) it won't matter. Up here in Canada the Albertan provincial government already did this yesterday - and any potential savings were immediately wiped out by the Monday gas price increase.

Playing around the margins isn't going to fix this problem.
