The Baltic states aren’t considered a core Russian national security interest like Ukraine is because they’re not a potential economic rival, their border is fairly small, and their historical ties to Russia aren’t anywhere near as deep as Ukraine’s are. They’re also already a lost cause that can’t be retaken without igniting a nuclear war.

NATO isn’t conquering Russia, it’s isolating it in Europe by flipping its historical proxies and allies’ allegiances. If you don’t see why that’s a problem for Russia, I don’t know what to tell you.

Look, I'm going to put it in simple terms - if NATO actually wants to fuck up Russia, there's absolutely zero that Russia can do to stop it sans nukes. It's a shorter route from Vilnius to Moscow than it is from the Ukrainian border. And the only time the US invaded Russia, it wasn't even from the West, it was from the East. So the NATO excuse holds absolutely zero weight and even Russia itself doesn't believe in it since the domestic audience is being fed "reunification of rightful Russian territory" propaganda instead. Russia thinks a lot of stuff, like how being under Russia was totally awesome for all their colonies and them rushing to join NATO is because of evil Western influence and not because they wanted to get as far the fuck away from Russia as politically possible.

And you are completely mistaken if you think that Russia isn't itching to grab the Baltic states again. Their TV propaganda already started hammering on that topic only a few years ago.

Likely one reason the Soviets deported so many residents of the Baltic States and moved so many Russians in. The Russian minority is an issue in each of the Baltics.
