I admire the sneaky move by the Ukraine to announce they will "Not seek NATO membership" in order to void Russia's reason for being in the Ukraine. Alas Putin has doubled down announcing the the denazification of the Ukraine to his own populace so this NATO thing alone would not fly with the rhetoric in Russia that Putin has deployed.

Of course, the idea Putin will pull out is hopeful, but it is an interesting move only because should Putin pull out, then the Ukraine can be allowed to join NATO and then Putin can not attack Ukraine again. I'd imagine the controlling interests of NATO would allow a rush membership now quite possibly.

However it is high time the EU offered an EU Army and that membership would come with the "EU Economy and Army" effectively replacing NATO as an option for European eastern countries so they get the economic membership advantages coupled with the might of a nuclear army. It has been floated many times and France and Germany are the primary drivers, they may get their wish in the coming few years.

There's people who claim he wouldn't have been able to turn those samples into the spreadable powder so whatever, I've never looked into it too deeply. But the fact remains, you generally do not want these materials falling on the wrong hands.
We know the Soviets had both anthrax and H1N1 leaks from their BIOLABS because of how fucking shoddy their safety was, and one of the explanations for the H1N1 leak was that they were attempting to create a vaccine and this flu of man-made origin was the challenger.
