In fact, even if every single nuke was shot down by the US' magical space weapons, then plenty of them would detonate mid air and wreak hell on Earth's atmosphere.
Is that actually the case? I'm certainly no expert on nuclear weapons, but I know a nuclear detonation is a very mechanically tricky thing to pull off.

I'm sure releasing a bunch of highly-enriched uranium into the environment would be decidedly bad, but would intercepting a nuke in flight have any reasonable chance of detonating it?

The primary portion of the bomb (the fission initiator) requires literal nanosecond-scale precision to work properly, so no. I never worked on any nuclear ordnance, but I would say even dropping the thing on the floor slightly while moving it would require a full teardown and inspection.

Like you say, dropping thousands of pounds of plutonium dust into the atmosphere is not recommended.

Best part is I bet probably a majority of European countries are less permissive of trooning out kids than Texas. Even some of the more woke ones like Sweden have started recommending against puberty blockers.
It's the same thing with abortion, US libs cry about fleeing to EU for muh 'bortions not realizing that most EU countries are WAY more restrictive than any state in the US.

There are so many weapon systems in play it's hard to know for sure.

The nice things ICBMs is we've not had to use them, and it would nice if we could keep it that way.

I don't think it would, just based off of declassified records. Some nukes have gone through amazing levels of shock and not detonated, including being dropped from high altitudes, catching on fire, and airplane crashes

Doomsday Clock Scientists:

>"We don't have biolabs in Ukraine"
>"Okay, we do, but Russia will use it against us so stop noticing things".

On the veterinary health side, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency supports 14 facilities and diagnostic laboratories, Pope said. “Most of these facilities are regional diagnostic veterinary laboratories that provide Ukraine with animal sample collection ability and basic laboratory capabilities for initial diagnostics of potential diseases in Ukraine’s animal population. They are part of the network of labs that help Ukraine prevent, detect, and respond to animal diseases like African swine fever,” he said.

We're CONCERNED that Russians might get their hands on cutting edge, uh, veterinary science... in Ukraine... that's funded by the United States Department of Defense's weapons of mass destruction research agency for, uh, reasons. :story:

I'm not going to spend hours looking for the source so you can take this with a grain of salt, but I remember reading about nukes that had been adapted to detonate once launched if a sudden disruption occurs to them like that of a defense system once they've been launched. Although, I'm not aware of any defense system that can stop ICBMs and I think American foreign policy would be very different if there were.

I'm a bit more concerned knowing that there are people in the world who legitimately think that a nuclear war would somehow not just have no negative impact on them, but would also be beneficial for them.
It'll be just like my Fallout games!

We have GMD. Which has been tested. Not sure how many ICBMs we can realistically shoot down though.

Tbh, I had an impression that they don't bomb schools and hospitals on purpose, rather Russian pilots are that retarded that they always miss their targets and end up bombing civie buildings. There is no other way I can explain it.
last year here in bulgaria US troops on training raided a civilian olive oil factory and held staff at gunpoint. turns out map reading and common sense are less important than correct pronouns in american military.

russian army wouldnt shell anything that didnt need to be destroyed...because they cant afford to waste shells. they always had the 1 bullet, 1 kill mentality drilled into them.

ukrainian army are known for shabby presentation and poor training, so mistakes will often happen. this war IS their training

Even if for whatever reason the impact triggered the explosive surrounding the core, the non simultaneous explosion would cause the core to deform and fizzle rather than compress and reach full bore criticality.

Would you concede letting China takeover the USA out of the exact same reason?
Not to mention it's ignoring how a country's is more than its government and how hard it is to change a system the larger it grows.
china might sort out the unemployment, homelessness, and trooning. let them have a go

It's not only that they don't want to waste shells, though that is a big factor. There's literally no benefit to bombing a hospital in Donetsk Oblast on purpose for Russia since they want to incorporate Mariupol into the DNR.

The last level was poorly designed and confusing to navigate. Just like real life!

It was great.
Not to mention you could bypass like half of it by not just blindly going through all the portals and instead jump off the pipeline, make a beeline to the generators (the glowing orbs in the distance), climb the ladder and enter the portal here. Would skip half the enemy spawns too.
