Russian soldiers resorted to eating their dead in order to have enough energy to keep fighting.
...you know, if you have to resort to eating your dead soldiers to keep fighting (in modern times), I would think that would be the point where you go "welp, we lost. Let's pack up and go home."

Probably a number of Russian soldiers were euthanized after the battle because of the psychological impact it had on them.

No it won't stick and will be an L, or No to both?
It not only won't stick, it is already a failure. The rising prices were occurring well before Ukraine and were a point of discontent before it.

But let us huff some paint and say people do accept that. They...also blame Biden -with a majority- for Ukraine.

So it's really just choosing between damning him the short way or the long way.

See, up until now had the opposite impression. I kinda thought the Biden admin was comprised primarily of neoliberal establishmentarians with zero principles beyond what could potentially make them richer as individuals. I assumed all the progshit was being done cynically to distract voters from their more insidious policies, and despite the illusion of cohesion present during the first months of Biden's term, it quickly became public knowledge that there's been nonstop infighting between Democrat factions since Day One.
Political operatives are like whores, they work for whoever gives them the best return within their chosen team, D or R. Overlap may occur but rarely.

Does polling matter at all if 300,000 ballots are found at 2am in every swing state for the preferred candidate?
Gonna have to multiple the fraud by at least 5x with the current polls.

It's contradictory, but those polls are still true based on the fact that it's baffling that Blumpf is up by +5. Christ.

I don't see how a red congress will help fix anything things be outa wack yo
Without supermajorities, nothing's happening, and nothing's changing. The fate of US, however, hangs in the wind a little longer.

A red house and senate, with enough MAGA, can force a shutdown where it actually matters instead of Chip Roy tough twitter talk. This is where having people with actual balls would matter. A shutdown until Biden turns on Keystone or reduces drilling regulations or making the EPA suck a dick would be a start and show the people we're actually trying to help your wallet. And none of the faggy ass Paul Ryan era stuff where all the cuts kick in years later and then no one commits to the cuts.

A red house definitely needs to enact rule changes where this last minute omnibus spending is illegal. It used to be things went to various committees to be finalized and then you vote, but this new shitty way of forcing a decision because you're scared of the PR backlash needs to end.

My main concern is still that Republicans will retake Congress and then either show their cards too early and mobilize the dem grassroots again or fuck around too much and not get anything at all done, and it'll end up in Dems keeping the white house in 2024. Doomer prediction I know but the GOP is the best at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And failing to retake the white house in 2024 with a conservative Congress would be a most pyrrhic of victories, since without a supermajority they can't actually advance any legislation over Bidens veto, they can just impeach away and keep Dems impotent and tied up the way they did to Trump after 2018.

IF and that is a huge if, we survive to 2024, we have to actually be ready to get shit done, because our survival and the reversal of their fortune will have been nothing short of god's mercy and grace and if they ever get a shred of real power again without nuke-proof safeguards in place they will speedrun the last two years within the first day of their return to the throne.

Really fucking wish someone with dirt on Colbert would just fucking come out already and put the proverbial bullet into his career and end it already.
he's as much a stooge as the Ukrainian president; its the writers you need to go after. because 1. colbert has security 2.writers aren't that rich, they are middle class for NYC with their salaries, 3. they won't have the same due diligence about their social media 4. it would be funnier to force them to admit how bullshit this stuff is.

the only reason other comedians don't call them out is because the comedy world has slightly less freedom than Soviet Russia at its height. no one critizes anyone for fear of retribution.

Probably one of the few redeeming qualities of big city living. You'll have to be paying more for that though since the bus and train people will be paying more for fuel. Try not to get shot fren ❤️

We hear the term "first world" and "third world" used a lot, but what about second world? Turns out "second world" was used to describe Soviet countries. I would say that's accurate for modern day Russia - third world LARPing as the first world, though overall better off than most true third world countries. I would feel much safer in Russia than Sudan.
I remember there used to be a sub (idk if it still exists at this point) called r/secondworldproblems and it was basically making jokes about China and gutter oil. So I would consider China a second world as well. Plus it's third world pretending to be first world, though according to UN subsidies it's the reverse.

Given geopolitical realignments, there really is a second world taking shape, when using the original definition.
