I’m just happy to have Ewan back
It's good to have Ewan back.
I too am glad that the Walt Disney Company hired an actor from George Lucas' Star Wars films to reprise a role they played in those films for new, high quality Star Wars content from Disney. They can't possibly fuck it up this time!

Did Lucsafilm just sack all of its talented makeup artists when the Rat took over? This looks atrocious.
IIRC on the movie side at least the makeup and creature designers are just hacks. They didn't bother getting any of the guys who worked on the OT and PT for these projects unless they were there at Kennedyflim already. I imagine it's even worse working on a TV show with a lower budget than a blockbuster film.

Obi-Wan is going to leave Tatooine and fight Vader again and lightsabers will be everywhere. He'll probably be outshined by the black Inquisitor who has to teach him the value of life or some shit. People will make excuses for it, just like they're already doing on STC, which is a subreddit that's supposed to be about criticizing Disney's dumb decisions. We couldn't just have a low-key show where Obi-Wan helped people on Tatooine while keeping on eye on Luke, with maybe A'Sharad Hett showing up if people need a lightsaber fight to jack off to.

Fans are loving the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ trailer, except The Grand Inquisitor

The first look at The Grand Inquisitor in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ has just come out and fans are not happy about the design.

In the midst of Disney’s wild conference call the trailer for the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series was released, which takes place 10 years after Order 66 and will show audiences Obi-Wan’s trials and tribulations as a Jedi in the Empire’s new galaxy and how he will protect Luke Skywalker.

Many first looks come amidst the trailer, including Obi-Wan himself, Luke Skywalker from a distance, Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen, a new inquisitor played by Moses Ingram, as well as The Grand Inquisitor.

@CultureCrave posted a gif of the character in action which gave us a closer look at The Grand Inquisitor. Fans were quick to react.

One response to the criticism of The Grand Inquisitor’s look is that animation doesn’t translate to live-action perfectly. In response to that, this Twitter user mentions that this excuse isn’t valid, as we’ve already seen The Grand Inquisitor’s species in live-action all the way back in Revenge of the Sith.

“They look different in animation” bruh they already did pau’ans in live action 😭 pic.twitter.com/zoag1Ue1ot

Another fan of the trailer pointed out the same point: that we’ve already seen the Pau’an’s look and the move to change the head shape is confusing for fans paying close attention.

Although I don’t expect the Grand Inquisitor to look like his Rebels look of course, I think he should look like other Pau’an’s we’ve seen in live action & kept the more elongated head. #ObiWanKenobi pic.twitter.com/WKaeNR8HTX

@KeyanCarlile says we have a Bob the Tomato from VeggieTales situation on our hands. The resemblance is quite striking.

Grand Inquisitor really shaped like Bob The Tomato now. pic.twitter.com/RZY9JJPbOS

The comment from this user points out that the altered look takes away from the menacing aspect of The Grand Inquisitor and gives him more of a “Dave from accounting” feel.

The Grand Inquisitor meets Humpty Dumpty here and damn, these fans cannot stop ripping into this design.

Another one. This fan (who is playing Elden Ring) compares the bulbous head of The Grand Inquisitor to the bulbous head of Megamind.

I swear too god the grand inquisitor looks just like megamind 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/BShBgY2pNJ

I was thinking some more. I think Obi-Wan will be in a dark place. Basically giving up any thought he should or could train Luke. It'll lean hard on the Empire, the end of the Jedi is all Obi-Wan's fault. Black lady who will really be a good person, will show Obi-Wan the way and restore his optimism and hope.

This will be done by some Yoda type level wisdom. "You fail so you can learn not to fail next time."

Or possibly POC lady will have zero respect for Obi-Wan. Dress him down as a failure for his failing with Anakin. Blame him for the death of the Jedi and the Empire. As well as telling him he's a pathetic coward for just hiding of on Tatooine while real Jedi like her are still in the fight.

I'm sure along the way Obi-Wan will tell someone about Luke who doesn't know.

For some reason young Leia will probably be shown doing a low key use of the force.

Obi-Wan is set around the same point in the timeline as the SOLO movie. They won't let that go to waste.

Probably do something lame to close the "plot hole" of him not remembering R2-D2.

the acting in Phantom is one of the few things the film doesn’t fuck up.
You'd have a point if Padme didn't exist, even if Neeson & McGregor were delivering as good a performance as they could Portman's is actually laughably awful in certain scenes.

Bob Chapek is a notorious cheapskate, that and Iger's damned 20th Century Fox purchase really put Disney in the red. So they're probably trying to find every way to cut corners in the budget while still trying to deliver a cgi coomfest to satisfy the casual consoomer.

It looked like there was a female Imperial officer too? Cause that's not inconsistent or anything.
I mean there are Imperial females in legends(and one or two I know of in canon), but I bet my life on them being secret rebels or some shit.

but I bet my life on them being secret rebels or some shit.
Considering Disney's track record, all their female imperials are always secret or misguided good guys (and obnoxious lesbos 90% of the time) and have invincible plot armor until they either turned over to the side of the 'good' guys or are written out entirely and forgotten to avoid killing them. The only exception to this rule (minus the possiible lesbian part) was the silver ducktrooper from the disney sequels but she's not even a disney-brand imperial officer, just a Fag Order captain.
