It's not really a deal of who's been 'here' the longest, it's mostly built upon how fast your bots, or AI in this case, can grab shit from the tiniest nooks and crannies of the internet, plus, if you have the prowess, you can get uMatrix, or uBlock Origin to see what google connects to and WHOO BOOY is it a lot, most of its analytics and other garbage, I'll even give you a list of everything it connects to if you're lazy. I say this because, DDG connects to only a subdomain, but from my use of it, it doesn't break everything when you block a domain like Google does, it causes the entire thing to shit the bed.
Here's that list of all the connections btw, was bored:
improving.duckduckgo.com
duckduckgo.com
But this is only for the homepage!
Here is what it connects to search for, "h" for example.
Yeah that is way too much for the homepage, now let's try searching for "h".
just connects to some encrypted-(gibberish).gstatic.com
Yeah man, this is seriously not some an endless fight about some toy trains that you both have, it's that Google is tracking you fucking everywhere, not saying DDG hasn't, or isn't, the owner is pretty shady, but there's nothing else other than Searx that is a good 'privacy' search engine.

That is actually a little scary.
Recently, DuckDuckGo had been getting some location-based information which should not have been the case had DuckDuckGo been that a private search engine.

Here, I search up a track from the game "The Secret of Mana" and it gave me everything except what I was looking for.
No youtube, no direct to MP3 link, nah just the game itself on Steam. The closest thing to what I was looking for was a stupid forum post on SMW central.
At first it seemed like a breath of fresh air, a search engine that's actually private, but now it just sounds like they're trying to hide something with the way they keep chanting PRIVACY over and over again. How long before we find out they've been doing shit that would make Google blush? Especially since they lured in lots of people who are probably gonna use it to search for things they'd normally think twice about looking up on the internet.

To play Devil's advocate for a second: "the legends" and variations is incredibly common, especially when talking about vidya. Adding "song music" or something takes 1.5 seconds.
The safest search engine at this point is Google with as many security measures as available engaged.

I did the exact same search on Google, no variation and I got the song immediately from youtube. You can try it too.
Also I didn't find the music on DDG with "OST", "music", "soundtrack" or even "song". Each time I tried I got other tracks from the game, but never the one I was specifically looking for.
Anyways this is part of my routine, I look up something on DDG, if nothing comes up after like 3 attempts I switch to Yahoo, Bing or Google. That never failed me.
When some starts going on about 'disinformation' I honestly feel sad. The problem might be a mix of a poor oversight of HR who've formulated unwise hiring policies with the way quite a few programers go strange or are prone to wokery. I'll have to look at that Brave search engine. I just want my obscure history and music stuff, and above is an example how DDG can be weak on this.
Glad I stopped using DDG a while ago, brave search has been doing alright for me recently, I'll go to google when I need to for stuff Brave can't find.
I had already pretty much stopped using DDG in favor of Neeva, though at this point I'm waiting for them to pull the same shit. I was still using the DDG browser on my phone, but that's uninstalled now. "Oy vey goy, providing unbiased results isn't in the contract, we only guaranteed your privacy!" Fuck this faggot kike.

Fourth result on Yandex, though it links to a video that's gone now. A lot of YouTube channels pulled their video game music after GilvaSunner got hundreds of DMCA claims from a literally who pretending to be Nintendo.
When searching for vidya music, you should append OST to your search.
The better question is, what search engine uses an index that can be trusted? The weakest link is always going to be the index. If you wanted to make a non-woke unfiltered search engine, you need to find an index to give you results. By far the biggest indexers are Google, Bing and Yandex. So you can already see the problem there. There are some independent indexers out there, Brave is one, but I haven't looked much into this. Thankfully someone with more autism than me has done so, although this guy is still a faggot since he apparently excluded two "far-right" search engines: https://seirdy.one/2021/03/10/search-engines-with-own-indexes.html (archive)
edit: There is Right Dao, can't vouch for their results but they at least talk a good game on their About page. Searching for "shelling of donbass by ukrainian army" brings up RT and Sputnik on the first page so that's promising.
I think the hat in the ring or whatever for me is the fact I keep hearing ads for it on local radio, and seeing billboard advertisements for it. For a company that emphasizes on privacy it sure has a lot of money on its hands to spend on advertising its software.
