Aussie Today is reporting a Russian Tank column approaching Kyiv was badly mauled and a top Russian Commander killed.

As for Kyiv being surrounded? I don’t think the Russian’s have anywhere near enough boots on the ground to accomplish that. Especially since they don’t really control the countryside behind them for most facings. So in surrounding Kyiv all they really accomplish is exposing themselves from the front and the rear. Their biggest problem is they don’t really have a way to cut off the flow of weapons into the theater.

watching the Russian’s has got to be giving the Chinese Military planners pause regarding any of the Party Leaderships plans for Taiwan. Not simply for the unexpected harshness and blowback of the International Sanctions. But for just how chewed up and stalemated the Russian Armor is. Mainly from man portable weaponry. In an environment where every citizen wants them dead or gone. The question becomes what is the end game? Other than a never ending quagmire that chews up soldiers to no real purpose?

They've been relying on moral panics and creating a moral high ground that now its all they have, they have radicalized their hounds so bad that ANY admission of supporting literal neo-nazis would be destructive to their own morale and propaganda.
They can't admit they are supporting literal neo-nazis, even if these nazis are different from the usual because of the massive cognitive dissonance that would create for their base that might threaten transforming this whole ordeal into another Vietnam where the public suddenly turns against the propaganda.
They have relied so bad on black and white morality to justify their atrocities that now it has come back to bite them in the ass as they try to cover up the fact they are supporting neo-nazis out of convenience
a detached/sane/objective observer would react to seeing azov fight in ukraine by simply recognizing that war is ugly business and when you're fighting for your life you'll gladly take any allies you can get.
but yeah after decades of nazi hysteria programming this doesn't work with western niggercattle, the sight of a swastika alone will unironically make some of them go full 180 on the issue, from "liberty of brave ukrainians must be defended at all costs" straight to "i hope russia burns the whole place to the ground" without a second thought.

and media of course know this, so their only option is to downplay and dismiss it, do everything possible to keep people from talking and thinking about it.

A lot of this was essays from a decade and a half ago so I only remember bits and pieces, Stuart Slade wrote a couple short essays about Nuclear Warfare and its aftermath. He was a bit of a lolcow about his alt-history fiction, but he did work for a DoD think tank related to these strategic issues. Life After Nuclear War, the google conversation is the best that popped up but he does answer some questions about what we know of Soviet targeting and who gets nukes. A PDF of his Nuclear Warfare 101, short essay but good. Pie cutters are this website but for real maps.

I don't have exact numbers of ICBM off the top of my head, but the last generation of US and Soviet ones numbered in the hundreds and carried around 10 MIRVs each. A single SS-18 could, in theory, destroy every major city in a US state. That's not even counting SLBM from ballistic missile subs either. An Ohio-Class SSBN carries up to 24 SLBM, the earlier ones with Trident I SLBM having 8 MIRVs are 100kt a piece, the later and refit ones (SSBN-730 to SSBN-743) carry up to 24 Trident IIs with up to 12 MIRVs, either the 100kt range W76 or the 475kt range W88. A single SSBN can destroy every major city in a country. A lot of the effects and after effects of a nuclear war at a bit exaggerated, but the reality is bad enough.
There is a good technical overview of the current Russian Nuclear capabilities, warheads and launch systems here.

I'm sure /pol/ hates "Black Russians" as a beverage and any white woman who drinks one.
Is that a thing, I always thought it was a bit in Naked Gun

Since everyone is talking about pretty planes i shall ugly shame the X-32:

Boeing even moans about how the X-35 was chosen because it wasn't an ugly monster in the pbs documentary.
That and I've heard Boeing didn't want to change the refueling system between the Air Force and Navy versions, which was not good. Boeing is super salty about it, if you start digging into the articles that are very critical of the F-35, the guy writing it is usually either Boeing, Ex-Boeing, or works for a Boeing related think tank. Maybe don't make an ugly plane next time.

In WW2 it wasn't uncommon to send Jap skulls back home as gifts. FDR himself was gifted a letter opener made from a Japanese guy's arm.

Hopefully the Ukies aren't at the collecting Russian skulls for ashtrays phase yet.
>its WW2
>You kill a jap in the pacific
>Make an ashtray out of his skull
>Carve a letter opener out of his arms
>Gift it to the president
>Probably fed the meat and guts to the local wildlife

This is the kind of shit black metal songs are made off

The Boeing guys knew it was over the moment they laid eyes on the XF-35’s lift fan. It was a “Holy Shit that is such a perfect solution… why didn’t we think of that?” Moment.

G. Gordon Liddy used to talk about pictures of Sherman tanks in the pacific with the skulls and severed heads of Japanese soldiers mounted on them that weren't general public knowledge. The Pacific campaign was, to borrow a term, pretty fucking metal.

Well, it's fortunate that an informed individual such as you has infiltrated the Kremlin and knows what the Russian order of battle is.

Oh, wait, you didn't infiltrate the Kremlin and you know fuck all about what the Russian order of battle is?

How unfortunate.

There is one famous photo of the severed head on a tank from the pacific. Its here. (NSFW) That particular picture got shown around alot of places after the war. It is probably what Liddy was referring to.

I'll check those out, as for the MIRVs consider that every unit carries a number of dummy warheads to make interception near impossible, tho I dont know how many, could it be 3 out of 12 or more

Given the cost of a nuclear warhead it makes sense, even in the possible situation where the warhead is intercepted while the dummy goes thru

Again, it’s very strange that there’s barely been any coverage of Ukraine’s northern command being wiped out, or one of its top air force colonels being shot down.

Yet every time a Russian commander dies it’s another “crushing blow” to the invaders, except when it turns out he’s still alive like that Chechen officer…

If there's one thing I've learned from studying history, it's "don't start race wars": they tend to result in you getting dogpiled, and losing one really, really sucks.
